Last year they introduced a new tournament at the World Series of Poker, one featuring 100-minute levels and a $2,620 buy-in and needing five long days to complete. Today, it's time again for another long tourney journey as Event #24: $2,620 THE MARATHON No-Limit Hold'em kicks off at 11 a.m.

A total of 1,759 players entered the tournament last year generating a prize pool of over 4 million dollars. In the end, it was Venezuelan poker player Joseph Di Rosa Rojas who ended up winning $690,469 and the first gold bracelet for his home country by beating Alexander Lynskey.

The players are set to play six levels of 100 minutes today, with a 15-minute break after each level and a 75-minute dinner break after Level 4. Players start with 26,200 in chips and registration is open until the end of the second level on Day 2.
