Tuchman takes Ethans To School

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

The David Tuchman, Eric Ethans, Vanessa Rousso table has attracted a number of spectators

It’s all gone a bit quiet at the David Tuchman, Eric Ethans, Vanessa Rousso table.

The reason may be a hand that went down a while ago were Ethan opened on Tuchman called. The flop was {A-}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Tuchman called a bet from Ethans.

The turn brought the {q-Diamonds} and Tuchman raised a bet to 15,000 and Ethans made the call. The river was a {j-} and Ethans moved all in covering Tuchman who tanked for a few minutes before making the call with {a-Diamonds}{j-} and was good against the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} of Ethans.

The Sun Sets on "WCGRider"

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

We noticed that WSOP bracelet winner Doug "WCGRider" Polk was no longer in his seat, which led us to believe that he had been eliminated from the tournament. Sure enough, a quick check with Ola "no_Ola" Amundsgard confirmed that Polk had fallen.

As Amundsgard told it, Polk shoved from middle position for his last 15,000 or so holding {9-}{9-} and Yun Fan woke up with {a-}{k-} in the big blind. An ace on the flop was all it took to eliminate one of online poker's most fierce competitors, and while Polk is no doubt disappointed, he leaves the 2014 WSOP with a coveted gold bracelet.

Hansen Busted

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Gus Hansen's Day 2 was all downhill.
Gus Hansen's Day 2 was all downhill.

Gus Hansen began the day with a very solid stack of 90,000, but it seemed to be smaller every time we walked by and checked on it. Finally, he was no longer in his seat, so we asked the players at the table what happened. Apparently, Hansen got the last of it in with a straight draw on the flop against an opponent who held two pair, and Hansen failed to get there.

Schulman Continues to Climb

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Nick Schulman raised to 1,800 from middle position and action folded around to the player in the big blind. He tossed out a call and the two were off to the flop.

The dealer fanned {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs} on the felt and Schulman's opponent waited a beat before tossing out 2,500. Schulman came over the top with a raise to 6,000 and his opponent quickly let his cards go. Schulman took down the pot and now sits around 130,000 in chips.

Saul Falls to a Royal Flush

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Rafael Saul - Eliminated
Rafael Saul - Eliminated

Rafael Saul fired out a bet of 15,000 on a flop of {j-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{a-Hearts}, and Paul Mikos made the call. The turn was the {4-Clubs}, Saul moved all in for 18,300, and Mikos called.

Mikos: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Saul: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Saul had flopped top two pair, and Mikos needed a queen, heart, or ten in order to knock out the Argentine. The {10-Hearts} completed the board, giving Mikos a royal flush, but Saul started to celebrate.

"Yes!" Saul shouted. "Vamo!"

Perhaps the Buenos Aires native was still drunk with excitement from his country's win over Holland in penalties in the semi-finals of the World Cup, because it took him some time to realize he was eliminated. Finally, someone pointed out that Mikos had a royal flush, and Saul exited the Amazon Room.

Classic Cooler Sends 2009 Main Event Champ to the Rail

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Joe Cada
Joe Cada

Back in 2009, Joe Cada topped a field of 6,494 players to win this very event for $8,547,042. Cada, who became the first player to follow up his Main Event win by capturing a bracelet since Carlos Mortensen (something he did this summer when he won Event #32: $10,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Championship for $670,041), was hoping for another superb showing, but his hopes were just crushed in a most-classic of coolers.

It happened over at one of the secondary feature tables when a player opened for 1,800 and Dennis Longoria called. Cada then three-bet to 5,500, the original raiser called, and Longoria sprung to life with a four-bet to 20,100.

Cada thought long and hard before moving all in for 55,000 or so, and action was back on the original raiser. He tanked for a long time before releasing what turned out to be pocket queens. Longoria then snap-called with {a-}{a-}. Unfortunately for Cada, his {k-}{k-} was crushed and he failed to find help. It's worth noting though the board contained a queen, so things could have played out very differently for Longoria.

As it was, he eliminated Cada and increased his stack to 165,000.

Joe CadaBusted the old classic way KK < AA. Good luck to all the good guys still in.

Freerolling Remond Lee

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Hailing from the United Kingdom, Redmond Lee, an online cash game player who goes by “LOLUFOLD”, has had some decent tournament success. He finished in 21st place in the Main Event back in 2010 for $317,161.

Lee was involved in a three-way pot on a flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and had bet 4,000. The player to his left called and another player moved all in for 12,000. Lee tanked before raising enough to cover the player to his left; he called.

Lee was on a flush draw with {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, the player to his left had two pair {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and the player who shoved had hit a set with {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Lee had a chance to knock two players out but the turn {q-Hearts} and river {k-Spades} didn’t bring his diamond. He did make a profit on the hand, though, from the other all-in player. He smiled as another player remarked on the hand, “Freeroll.”
