Campanello Over Blanchandin

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Tony Blanchandin and WSOP bracelet winner Bryan Campanello took a flop of {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Blanchandin fired out a river bet of 1,900. Campanello called and the dealer produced the {10-Diamonds} on the turn. Blanchandin kept up his aggression on fourth street, firing out a bet of 3,300. Campanello stayed the course.

The river was the {6-Spades} and Blanchandin slowed with a check. Campanello knocked the table back and Blanchandin showed {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a rivered pair of sixes. Campanello rolled over {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens and took down the pot. Campanello's stack now sits around 66,000 while Blanchandin is down to about 160,000.

Cahill Making Money

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Seamus Cahill
Seamus Cahill

The final board read {6-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Seamus Cahill threw out a bet of 17,000. His opponent had a little over 40,000 left and he turned away from the table in disgust pressing his forehead into his palm.

When he turned back he threw out the calling chips and Cahill turned up his hand {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}. It didn’t quite seem to register so the dealer helped Cahill’s opponent out, “Straight.”

Cahill stacked the fresh chips and whispered to his neighbor, “Can you believe it?”

“You made good money on that one,” he acknowledged.

POY Leaders Shack-Harris and Danzer Exit

Brandon Shack-Harris
Brandon Shack-Harris

According to their respective Twitter accounts, 2014 World Series of Poker Player of the Year leaders Brandon Shack-Harris (752.00) and George Danzer (745.20) have been eliminated.

OscillatorTiming problems today. Shoved Tens into Jacks FTL. GG WSOP. Gl all

George DanzerGood game. Wieder in Top Full reingeblufft. Jetzt irgendwie auch erleichtert.

Google Translate tells us that Danzer's tweet has something to do with "buffing," and that he's "somehow relieved."

Busting shy of the money, neither player will be able to add to their point total in Las Vegas. There is, of course, the World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific in Melbourne, Australia, which kicks off on Oct. 2. The series, which features 10 bracelet events, culminated with the AU$10,000 Main Event on Oct. 13, and the AU$25,000 High Roller on Oct. 15.

Here is the current POY leader board:

Jonsson Doubles Through Lee

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Phillip Lee raised to 2,000 in middle position, and Jimmy Jonsson made it 5,200 on the button. In the big blind, Ben Yu fired up a four-bet to 11,000, and Lee cold-called the raises. Jonsson called as well after some consideration, and the three saw an {8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop. Yu checked, and Lee announced all in, covering both opponents. Jonsson called off his 28,000. Yu double-checked his cards, then folded.

Jonsson: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Lee: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Lee was in bad shape and in need of a queen, but he didn't find one as the {2-Clubs} and {4-Spades} finished the board.

Misstep from Schemion

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

We happened upon the action with 35,000 or so already in the pot and a board reading {9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. From what we could piece together, Ole Schemion had bet 9,800 or so on the turn, got one caller, and drove out another player.

When the river hit, Schemion waited a few moments before moving all in. His opponent, who had 37,700 behind, snap-called off.

"Five," Schemion admitted sheepishly and reluctantly showed the {6-Spades}{5-Spades}. It was no good, of course, as his opponent doubled with the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a flopped set.

Chris Johnson Doing Work

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Chris Johnson earlier this summer
Chris Johnson earlier this summer

Chris Johnson started the day with slightly less than 45,000 in chips, and after losing a pot earlier in the day to Stephen Diamantas, he was down to as low as 36,000. Since then, Johnson has eclipsed the 200,000-chip threshold.

Johnson has cashed three times at the 2014 World Series of Poker, including an 11th-place finish in Event #29: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em for $30,267. He also made a deep run at last year's Main Event, finishing in 82nd for $71,053 and had six other cashes and a final table. With the recent upward trend, the former WSOP Circuit champion has put himself in excellent position to do the same thing again this year.

Artur Arrives

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Artur Koren
Artur Koren

After a very eventful morning which included a skateboarding accident, a trip to the hospital and several X-rays, Artur Koren has finally arrived at the Rio for Day 2a of the World Series of Poker Main Event.

Contrary to previous reports, we discovered that Koren wasn't struck by a car - he simply fell.

"We were coming from the Palms," the Austrian told his table. "There is a ramp. We usually don't take it, but we were in a rush."

On one of the first hands Koren played, he called a raise from an opponent out of the blinds. The two took a flop of {3-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Koren check-called a bet of 2,700, and the pair knuckled on the turn ({7-Diamonds}).

The {8-Clubs} completed the board, Koren led out for 4,000, and his opponent made a quick call. The Austrian showed {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for a pair of jacks, and was awarded the pot.

Isaacs With Position on Riess

Nível 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Susie Isaacs
Susie Isaacs

Susie Isaacs has just been moved to the same table as Ryan Riess and in a recent hand she was on the button. Riess was in early position and would face playing a pot out of position with Isaacs if she called his raise. Perhaps this was in his thinking when he open folded and elected to sit this one out.

It folded to Isaacs on the button who opened for 2,200. The blinds decided to get stubborn and called her bet. All three players then proceeded to check it down on a board of {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. No one seemed particularly inclined to show until Isaacs said, “Four.” and turned over the {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. The players in the blinds couldn’t beat that and the pot was hers.
