Last $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Event to Determine Finalists Today

Vinny Pahuja set for another deep run
Vinny Pahuja set for another deep run

The very last $1,000 no-limit hold'em event of the 2014 World Series Of Poker drew a big field of 2,525 entries yesterday. The money bubble burst during the night's final level when three players were eliminated in the same hand to split the min-cash of $1,840. The remainder of Level 11 can only be described as fast and furious, because another 60 or so would hit the rail and only 206 hopefuls were left to bag up chips.

Among those who made the money but had to settle for a min-cash were Elisabeth Hille, Amit Makhija, Todd Brunson, Will Failla, Lisa Hamilton, Michael Tureniec, Tony Ma, and Sebastian Pauli. Meanwhile the overnight chip leader was Raymond Chen (130,400), who edged out Giang Hoang (127,400) and Brian Altman (106,900).

Trailing the leading trio are such familiar names as Vinny Pahuja (99,500), Matthew Wakeman (92,800), Steve Gross (80,800), Mihails Morozovs (75,100), Jamie Rosen (72,000), Perry Friedman (71,000), Matt Salsberg (70,600), and Will Jaffe (70,100).

Pahuja especially will be on our list of players to watch out for, as he already finished 12th in the $ 1,000 No Limit Hold'em (Event #9), seventh in one $1,000 NLHE (Event #33) and 12th in a $1,500 NLHE (Event #44) this year.

Plenty of other notables will return to the tables at 1 p.m. local time when the action resumes. The PokerNews team will bring you all the action from the tables when the field gets whittled down during today's 10 levels of play on the way to finding yet another golden bracelet winner on Tuesday. Stay tuned!

Blenkarn Eliminates Pahuja

Nível 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Vinny Pahuja
Vinny Pahuja

Vinny Pahuja raised, Jeff Blenkarn three-bet and then called the four-bet of Pahuja for 23,000 chips. On the {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, Pahuja made the continuation bet and Blenkarn moved all in - snap call from Pahuja with pocket aces. Blenkarn showed the {10-Clubs}{9-Spades} for a gutshot and got there thanks to a seven on the river.

"You gotta get lucky one time, right?" Blenkarn asked. In seat one, Mihails Morozovs joked "well you used that one time now, right" and the table burst in laughter. "Yes, one time against each player," Blenkarn replied. "He wasn't supposed to have aces there." Ah well, that's poker.

Harwood Scores Huge Double Through Sapiro

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Loni Harwood
Loni Harwood

Andrew Sapiro raised to 6,000 and one opponent as well as Loni Harwood in the big blind called to see the {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. Harwood check-called 11,000 from Sapiro and the third player in the hand called as well to see the {6-Clubs} on the turn.

Harwood now check-raised from 19,000 to 50,000 whereas the second opponent folded and Sapiro put her all in. Harwood called with {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the flush and Sapiro was already drawing dead with {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}. The {8-Clubs} river completed the board and a swingy last few levels turned into the chip lead for Harwood.

Harwood Eliminated in Huge Pot

Nível 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

There was a raise to 8,000 and both Matthew Frampton as well as Loni Harwood called out of the blinds. On the {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, Frampton and Harwood check-called 14,000 and checked again the {9-Spades} on the turn.

The preflop raiser now bet 35,000 and Frampton called. Harwood moved all in for approximately 180,000 and the first opponent folded. Frampton gave it some thought, checked his stack again carefully and then announced the call.

Frampton: {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Harwood: {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Both players had the straight and flush draw but Frampton was still ahead. The {6-Hearts} river would not change the outcome either and Harwood headed to the payout desk.

Hoang Wins Huge Pot, Accused of Slow Roll

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Neo Hoang
Neo Hoang

Neo Hoang and Rafael Pondolfo just had a huge preflop confrontation. There may have been a slight language barrier as at the end of the hand several players including Pondolfo accused Hoang of a slow roll, but Hoang quietly stated that he was merely making sure that Pondolfo was indeed all in before making the call and turning over his cards.

Whatever the truth of it Hoang made the call with {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Pondolfo had {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

The cards ran out {6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Hoang won a huge pot the left Pondolfo super short.

Matthew Frampton Eliminated in 25th Place ($11,544)

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Matthew Frampton
Matthew Frampton

Justin Schwartz opened for 22,000 and Matthew Frampton moved all in for 81,000. Daniel Riley made the call and Schwartz said he was relieved not to have to make a decision and folded his hand.

Frampton had {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and was racing against the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} of Riley.

The flop {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} changed the fortunes of the hand but the turn {7-Spades} changed it back and the river {10-Hearts} sealed Frampton’s exit from the tournament.

Ray Henson raised from early position and a betting war broke out against Seyed Fazeli in the small blind with the latter at risk for what looked like 300,000 chips. Henson looked him up and was way ahead.

Henson: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Fazeli: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Henson seems to be the clear chip leader after this big pot.

Kao Saechao Eliminated in 23rd Place; Thomas Muehloecker Eliminated in 22nd Place ($11,544)

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Thomas Muehloecker
Thomas Muehloecker

Bastian Fischer moved all in for 211,000 after Michael Marckx had opened the action with a raise to 25,000. Behind Fischer, Thomas Muehloecker (61,000) in the small blind as well as Kao Saechao (34,000, blind without seeing his cards) in the big blind called all in for less. Marckx folded and we had a three-way showdown.

Fischer: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Muehloecker: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Saechao: {K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

"King please," requested Saechao and then changed his mind into diamonds after the {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} flop fell. Neither the {2-Spades} turn nor the {4-Hearts} river changed the outcome of the hand and Fischer knocked out two opponents.
