Old Bluffer?

Nível 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

A young gun bet out on the turn of a board reading {2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades} and an elderly gentleman popped him up to 2,000. The young player put in the calling chips.

The river came the {k-Hearts} and the young gun fired another bullet, this time for 2,800. This was met with a cannon of an all-in from the old timer for 10,125. The young player staggered back and asked his adversary, “You wouldn’t be bluffing me in this spot?” but got no answer.

The young player threw his {k-Spades}{10-Spades} face up in the middle of the table in a gesture of surrender.

Can’t Win If You Fold

Nível 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

With a coupler of limpers ahead of him, Barny Boatman raised it up. If he wanted to thin the field it didn’t seem to have the desired effect, as it went to the flop with seven players.

Boatman continuation bet on a flop of {k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and managed to pick up four callers. He decided to check the turn {3-Spades} and folded when there was a bet and a raise behind him. Wise, considering the winner ended up showing a set {2-}{2-}.

At the start of the event the Tournament Director asked for a cheer from those whose first WSOP event this was. There were a fair few cheers upon which he asked, “Where have you been?”

We have spotted some more familiar names amongst the first timer though.

Cards In the Air

Nível 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

There is a buzz in the air as 4,000 players sit down at 400 tables and prepare to receive their first two cards of the day with the prospect of nine hours of poker ahead of them.

The stacks start at 600 big blinds deep so there could be a lot of flops seen multi-way early on with room for some creative play.

We’re all set for a great day of poker.

A Monster Pay Day Awaits the Winner

This is going to be a big one. Huge. Monster even. Event #51: The $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack is set to reignite the excitement at the 2014 World Series of Poker.

Deep stack poker is what the players have demanded and the organizers of the 45th Annual WSOP here at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino have delivered in spades.

So popular has this event proved that a second flight has been added starting at 5pm. Flight A starting at 12 p.m. sold out the night before with entries capped at 4,020.

Players are now now scheduled to play nine one-hour levels with no dinner break and 20 minute breaks after every two levels, so Flight A should finish Day 1 at 10:30 p.m.

Players start with 15,000 chips for their $1,500 buy-in with blinds starting at 25-25 and will be competing for a monster pay-out with entries still flooding in.

The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be patrolling the tournament floor in several rooms keeping you up to date with all the stories from the day, who is playing and how their Monster Stack is faring. Join us here from 12 p.m. to follow all the action right through to the end of play.
