Set of Sevens for Seiver

Nível 8

Limit Hold'em

Scott Seiver check-called a bet from Ofir Mor on a flop of {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, then check-called one more on the turn ({9-Diamonds}). The pair both checked after the {2-Spades} completed the board, and Seiver showed {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a flopped set of sevens, and Mor mucked his hand.

"What's it like, Scott?" Paul Volpe needled his tablemate, who smiled.

Limit Hold'em

Talal Shakerchi, Chun Lei Zhou, and Alex Bilokur were three handed on a flop of {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Shakerchi checked, Zhou tossed out a bet, and both Bilokur and Shakerchi called.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, Shakerchi checked again, and Zhou fired out a bet. Bilokur made it two bets, Shakerchi folded, and Zhou raised to three bets. Bilokur called.

The Russian called one more bet from Zhou on the river ({9-Diamonds}), and the latter showed {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for jacks and nines. Bilokur mucked.

Shack-Harris Eliminates Song to Take Over Chip Lead

Nível 8

Pot-Limit Omaha

We saw Brandon Shack-Harris, who won his first WSOP gold bracelet this summer and is in contention for Player of the Year, sitting with a big stack of 400,000. He was kind enough to fill us in on how he got a good portion of them.

As he told it, Kevin Song opened for 3,500 and Shack-Harris called. James Obst called from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {10-}{6-}{4-} with two diamonds. Obst checked, Song bet the pot, and Shack-Harris made it 35,000 to go. Obst folded, Song shoved for roughly 100,000 total, and Shack-Harris made a quick call.

Shack-Harris: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{a-}{a-}
Song: {10-}{6-}{x-}{x-}

Song got it in with top two pair, while Shack-Harris held aces with a flush draw. The {Q-Diamonds} turn gave him the said flush, and the {8-} river failed to pair Song. That resulted in Song hitting the rail and Shack-Harris vaulting to the top of the chip counts.

Pot-Limit Omaha

2011 $50,000 Poker Players Championship winner Brian Rast got short and after Eli Elezra potted it preflop, he made the call from the small blind. Justin Smith also called from the big, but after the {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, Rast shipped his stack in.

Smith folded, but Elezra made the call with the double-suited {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Rast held {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and top pair was good after the {4-Hearts}{9-Spades} runout.

The Defending Champ Hits The Rail

Nível 8
Matthew Ashton
Matthew Ashton

Pot-Limit Omaha

Matthew Ashton won this event last year to put his name on the map for good, but this year things didn't go so well for him. Ashton came into the day with a ton of chips, but doubling up Phil Ivey cost him early on and just now his last chips went to John Monnette.

Ashton raised to 5,000 and Monnette called in position after which the flop brought out {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Ashton bet pot, which was 15,000, and Monnette did not waste a lot of time before putting in a raise to 50,000.

Ashton tanked for quite a bit before calling all in for 37,000 and the cards were turned face up.

Monnette: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Ashton: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

The turn brought the {4-Hearts} and the river the {8-Spades} knocking Ashton out as Monnette raked in the pot.
