Today Event #25: $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low of the 2014 World Series of Poker continues as the remaining 139 players from a 470-player field look to play through the money and onward to the final table — or at least as close as they can get in 10 one-hour levels of play.
The top 48 players will earn a portion of the $1,069,250 prize pool, with the eventual winner taking home $267,327. Last year's champ, Mike Gorodinsky, who defeated a field of 374 players to win his first gold bracelet, fell in the last level of the night on Day 1, which means a new champion will be crowned.
"Womp Womp. No title defense for me this year. At least I actually played well today, cards just didn't cooperate. #OTTNO," Gorodinsky tweeted after his bust.
So who will be the next $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low champ? Will it be Cameron Tahmasebi, who begins today as the chip leader with 65,200? Or perhaps one of the other big stacks like Fu Wong (64,300), Brian Nichols (62,500), James Hoeppner (57,700), or Tom Schneider (57,600)?
All of these men have a chip advantage, but by no means do they have an easy path to the money. Among those standing in their way are John D’Agostino (54,900), Mike Leah (50,100), Michael Moed (46,300), Ashly Butler (40,800), Dutch Boyd (37,400), George Danzer (36,500), Mike Matusow (25,700), and Vanessa Selbst (22,300).
Speaking of Matusow, he joined PokerNews' Chad Holloway for an impromptu interview on Day 1 where he talked about playing in this event. Have a listen:

On Day 1, Todd Dukake ran a big stud hi-low bluff against current WSOP Player of the Year leader Justin Bonomo. Find out how he did it and his thought process on the hand.

In the very first hand of the day, Phil Galfond was all in against Robert Price on third street and both players went into showdown as two of the shortest stacks remaining.

The low for Galfond on seventh got him the chop as Price's two pair won him the high half of the pot.

We picked up the action on fifth street when both George Danzer and Dan Shak checked to Bruce Levitt, who bet 2,000. Two calls followed and then Danzer lead out on sixth street. Shak folded, dropping his stack to 6,400, while Levitt made the call. Levitt called another bet of 2,000 on seventh and discovered the bad news.
Danzer:
Shak: / fold

Danzer tabled two pair with an 8-4-3-2-A low, and it was good as Levitt scooped up his cards and sent them to the muck.
Meanwhile, Shak would go on to bust a couple of hands later, joining Tobias Hausen as an early Day 2 elimination.

Thomas Butzhammer was among the bigger stacks going into Day 2 and he just boosted his stack slightly due to four players heading into fourth only to continue heads up after that until seventh. His opponent kept betting with an eight high low draw showing whereas the German, who lives in Vienna, had a pair of jacks.

Vanessa Selbst was just involved in a hand with Aleksandr Denisov and Alan Myerson. She completed and then made it two bets on fourth, Denisov made three bets and Myerson and Selbst both called. Denisov kept firing and his opponents called down single bets until sixth, where Selbst posted the 2,000 rather reluctantly. On seventh, all three players checked.

Myerson got scooped as Selbst took the high and Denisov the low.
