Tony Gregg Doubles Through Vanessa Selbst

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

With the board reading {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Tony Gregg was all in for about 82,000 in the small blind and Vanessa Selbst (big blind) called after a little while in the tank.

Gregg tabled {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for nines full of tens, Selbst mucked and Gregg collected the pot.

Elias Does Not Hear the Fat Lady's Song

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

With 35,000 in the pot and a flop of {2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, Matt Hyman checked from the small blind and Darren Elias bet 20,000 from the hijack. Kevin Song then raised to 50,000 from the button, Hyman folded, and Elias thought for a few beats before moving all in for 75,000 total. Song called.

Song: {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Elias: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Song had flopped top pair and a straight draw, but Elias had a bigger pair with the same draw. Elias was looking to dodge a five to stay alive, and he did just that as the {Q-Clubs} blanked on the turn followed by the {A-Spades} on the river.

Hellmuth Pays Off Gregg

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We happened upon the action with approximately 130,000 in the pot and a board reading {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Phil Hellmuth had checked from the big blind and Anthony Gregg bet 72,000 from the cutoff.

Hellmuth shot up from out of his chair, asking the dealer, "How much?"

The thirteen-time bracelet winner sat back down and put in the chips to make the call. Gregg confidently rolled over the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and Hellmuth, who won the 1989 WSOP Main Event with pocket nines 25 years ago, mucked his hand while uttering an expletive.

Kings Good for Hyman

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Matt Hyman got his stack all in preflop holding the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} and was in prime shape to double against the {a-Spades}{q-Spades} of Darren Elias. The {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop was safe for Hyman, who didn't need to sweat the river as the {K-Diamonds} turn rewarded him a full house.

Nevertheless, the {9-Clubs} was put out to make it official and the pot was pushed Hyman's way.

The Long Lonely Walk Down the Hall

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Galen Hall
Galen Hall

"Seat open. Table 348," a dealer announced. We turned around just in time to see Galen Hall take his leave from the tournament. We missed the hand, but Calvin Anderson - who did the deed - was kind enough to fill us in on the details.

According to him, Faraz Jaka had opened for 10,000 and Anderson called from the button. Hall then three-bet jammed from the small blind for 70,000, Jaka folded and Anderson called. Hall held {q-}{j-} suited, which was behind the {a-}{q-} of Anderson.

The board ran out all low cards and Anderson sent Hall to the rail.

Cheong Gone

Joseph Cheong (Day 1) - Eliminated
Joseph Cheong (Day 1) - Eliminated

Ami Barer raised to 10,000 in the hijack, Matt Giannetti called in the cutoff and Joseph Cheong moved all in for 83,500 in the small blind. Barer folded and Giannetti called.

Giannetti: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Cheong: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

Giannetti was ahead and increased his lead on a flop of {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. The {k-Clubs} on the turn kept Cheong alive - any {10-} on the river would give him Broadway - but the {k-Spades} on the river was a brick.

Ace-High For Ivey

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

With about 55,000 already in the middle and a completed board of {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} spread on the felt, John Juanda cut out a bet of 42,000. At the other end of the table, Phil Ivey was on the button and pondered his action.

Ivey stacked up enough chips to call and set them to the side of his stack. Despite cutting out the chips almost immediately, Ivey sat in the tank for about three minutes. Eventually, he plopped them forward and Juanda let out a small sigh.

Juanda flipped over {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for queen-high to go along with the two pair on the board. Ivey tabled a winning {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for ace-high and he was pushed the pot. The nine-time WSOP bracelet winner now has about 460,000 in chips while Juanda has fallen to about 155,000.

Chidwick Gets It In

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

John Juanda raised to 11,500 from the cutoff and was met by an all-in three-bet to 133,000 from Stephen Chidwick in the big blind. Juanda thought long and hard as a call constituted most of his chips, but eventually he dropped in a call.

Juanda: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Chidwick: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Barring a four-flushed board, the hand was destined to be a chop and the {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} rainbow flop ensured that it would be. Both players began taking back their chips as the dealer ran out the {2-Clubs} turn and {J-Hearts} river.

Chidwick Runs Kings into Hutter's Aces

Nível 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Chidwick can't crack aces
Chidwick can't crack aces

John Juanda was first to act and raised to 11,000. Barry Hutter raised to 32,000 on his direct left and Stephen Chidwick moved all in for what looked like 100,000 or so on the button. Both players in the blinds released - as did Juanda - and Hutter instantly called.

Hutter: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Chidwick: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The dealer fanned {q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}, giving Hutter quad aces and an unbeatable hand, and Chidwick started collecting his things.

"Good luck everyone," the Brit offered as the turn and river came {3-Spades}, {q-Hearts} and he exited the tournament area.

Hutter pulled in the pot and is now up to 545,000 chips.
