Minor Controversy

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

A brief controversy erupted at one table as the players resumed play. Tim West returned from break and informed tournament staff that he believed chips were removed from his stack during the break. He currently has 194000 in his stack, but before break he counted 217000. After firmly expressing his complaint, the tournament director explained exactly what actions involving his chips had been taken during the break. They removed four racks of 100-chips (worth 40,000 total) and one barrel of purple 500-chips (worth 10,000) and had replaced them with 10 orange 5,000 chips. West was clearly trying to refrain from becoming angry at the tournament director.

The TD instructed the dealer to continue play while the situation was sorted out, and then he proceeded to calculate how many chips were in play at the table to start the day and how many are in front of the table's remaining three players. Eventually, the TD concluded that West's stack is correct, and West withdrew his complaint, saying he simply must have miscounted before break. As play continued, West started laughing at his own error, and the table is once again in good humor.

"Zugwat" Frustrates Cantu

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With the board reading {2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades} Steven Silverman bet 6,500 into Bradon Cantu on the button, who called.

The river was the {3-Hearts} and Silverman bet 15,000. Cantu tanked for a bit, took off his hat, scratched his head, then called.

Silverman shower {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for a rivered straight and Cantu angrily threw his cards into the muck.

"What the **** is going on?" he muttered to himself after the hand. Silverman has now pulled a little ahead of Cantu in the chip counts.

Steinberg Takes Some Back

Nível 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Cherish Andrews
Cherish Andrews

Cherish Andrews has chipped away at Max Steinberg's lead in their heads-up battle, but Steinberg recently came out on top in a big hand.

Steinberg checked on a flop of {7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}, and Andrews bet 4,500. Steinberg called, and the two saw a {j-Spades} on the turn. This time Steinberg bet out 12,000. Andrews called, and the dealer put out the {q-Hearts} on the river. Steinberg checked, and Andrews bet 18,000. After thinking for a minute, Steinberg raised to 65,000. Now it was Andrews who spent a minute thinking, and she eventually decided to call. Steinberg tabled {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a rivered flush, and Andrews mucked her cards.
