Lets Chop the Pot

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The action started with Fabian Ortiz moving all in for 510,000 from under the gun. Erkut Yilmaz was seated to his left, and quickly made the call. The option was then on Jorn Walthaus. From late position, he moved all in for 2,240,000 in chips. The table folded back around to Yilmaz, who went into the tank.

“Do you want me to call you?” asked Yilmaz, after a minute to himself. “Sorry guys, I just need some time.”

He finally opted to fold his hand, as the other two both showed their cards.

Ortiz: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Walthaus: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

“That’s the same hand I had,” said Yilmiz, standing up from his chair. His cards were kept to one side, so the ESPN crew could gather that information for later on.

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs} to see both players split the pot.

Gohr Leads the River; Gets Paid

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Robert Sichelstiel opened to 70,000 in middle position, Sebastian Gohr defended his big blind, and the flop fell {5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Gohr check-called an 80,000-chip bet, and the turn brought the {j-Spades}.

Gohr checked, Sichelstiel fired out another 150,000, and Gohr called.

The {j-Diamonds} completed the board, Gohr tossed out four lavender T100,000 chips, and Sichelstiel quickly reached for chips. He slid forward a stack of green T25,000 chips, making the call, and Gohr turned over {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for trip jacks. Sichelstiel unhappily tabled {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

100 Remain

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

"There are 100 players left," said Umang Dattani just now to his table, having noticed along with the rest of us the number of remaining entrants having changed on the big board. There is a little under one hour left to go in Level 24, the next-to-last level of the night.

Geshkenbein vs. the TD

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

It seems like it's become a yearly tradition at the Main Event for one player to complain about showing cards to the camera at a TV table. This year, that player is Vladimir Geshkenbein, who is currently at the secondary feature table.

The tournament director just made a general announcement to the table, reminding everyone to show their cards to the camera. Then he singled out Geshkenbein, and told him specifically that he must show his cards, as per the agreement every player signs before the tournament. Geshkenbein at first seemed to brush off the reminder, and the TD threatened him with a penalty if he refused to comply.

Straight for Sami; 7.5 Million!

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Sami Rustom
Sami Rustom

Sylvain Loosli opened from under the gun to 60,000 and was called by Dan Owen, Simon Ravnsbaek and Sami Rustom to see a {K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop fall.

The action checked round to Ravnsbaek and he bet out 90,000 only to have Rustom check-raise to 280,000 as Loosli and Owen folded. Ravnsbaek responded by making it three-bets to go as he pushed out 590,000. Rustom called, and then both players checked the {8-Diamonds} on the turn before the {7-Clubs} landed on the river.

Rustom pushed out 500,000 and Ravnsbaek called before folding at the sight of Rustom's {7-Hearts}{6-Spades} as he collected the pot to move to 7,450,000 in chips.

Updated Counts From Feature Table

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The action has slowed down in the Mothership, as the big pots are few and far between. Here's how the stacks are looking right now.

Conversation and Cards

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The conversation over at Table 425 has been especially entertaining over the last couple of levels, with most at the table in a chatty mood and all still reacting here and there to Vitaly Lunkin's interesting play a little while ago when he bet all in dark before the flop.

Chris Kinane has been relatively quiet, comparatively speaking, so just now when he raised to 100,000 over an Umang Dattani limp, Brandon Steven took the opportunity to engage him, asking Kinane where was from and what he did for a living.

Kinane explained he was from Allentown, PA, and teaches high school math, to which Curo Zuccarello (sitting to Kinane's right) joked that "the math gets a little complicated" in poker and so he may need to consult him.

After that Dattani and Keanu Tabali agreed to order beers during the last hour of play tonight. "If we're still here," added Dattani. "The way Vitaly's playing, we might all be gone."

Dattani then suggested in a deadpan manner that if one of the two of them were to bust, the other would give the player who'd busted 10% of what he won. "Um… I don't think I can do that," said Tabali with a grin, and Dattani said he was joking.

There won't be any need, then, to get Kinane to help with any percentage problems later on.

Sam Abueid Eliminated By Noah Schwartz

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Noah Schwartz opened to 65,000 in the hijack and Sam Abueid three-bet all in for 620,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Schwartz who went into the tank for a little while before he called with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

Abueid led with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, but fell when the board ran out {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}, pairing Schwartz's queen.

Castellucio Takes From Mandic

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Goran Mandic raised it up to 60,000 in middle position, and Sergio Castelluccio was the lone caller from the small blind. The flop came down {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Castelluccio checked to Mandic, who bet out 55,000. Castellucio called, and the turn brought the {5-Spades}. Castellucio knuckeld again, and Mandic fired 115,000 into the middle. Castellucio came back with a check raise to 300,000, and Mandic mulled it over for a bit before mucking, giving the pot to Castellucio.

Jacks Good for Ponakovs

Nível 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Catching the action on the flop of {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} with roughly 400,000 in the middle, we found Alekseys Ponakovs checking to Rachid Ben Cherif who bet out 240,000.

Ponakovs called, and then both players checked down the {3-Spades} and {7-Diamonds} on the turn and river.

Ponakovs tabled his {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Ben Cherif folded his hand to slip to 1.9 million as Ponakovs climbs to 3 million.
