The second level of Day 4 has come to a close, and well over two hundred players have exited since the bubble burst. Among the casualties were former chip leader Mark Kroon, two-time Poker Players' Champion Michael Mizrachi, 2010 WSOPE Main Event winner James Bord, and EPT8 Sanremo Main Event winner Rupert Elder.

Meanwhile, 2012 Octo-Niners Greg Merson and Steve Gee were moved to the same table. Merson, the defending champion took a decent-sized pot off of Gee, who was the first to exit at the final table, and the champ now sits with over 600,000 chips.

Herbert Farber ascended to the top of the counts after winning a pot off of Dutch Boyd, and joining him in the million-chip club this past level were Kevin Williams, and Aditya Agarwal.

The remaining 440 players are now on a 20-minute break. For the meantime, why don't you check out today's episode of the PokerNews Podcast featuring Ronnie Bardah, who just cashed in the Main Event for a record-tying fourth consecutive year.

2012 Final Table Rematch

Steve Gee
Steve Gee

Steve Gee, a final tablist at last year's Main Event, has recently been moved to Greg Merson's table and is now sitting directly next to the man who finished first at that table. Russell Thomas, who finished fourth in 2012, is sitting at the next table over. Merson and Gee wasted in little time in starting to battle.

Merson raised to 12,000 preflop, Steve Gee called, and Blake Yu called from the big blind. The dealer spread {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Spades} on the flop, and Yu and Merson both checked. Gee bet 18,000, and only Merson called. Both players checked the {q-Diamonds} on the turn, and then the river brought the {4-Diamonds}. Merson checked, and Gee bet 40,000. Merson carefully thought through the situation, then slid his cards toward the dealer. Gee took the pot, no doubt planning to match Merson's success from last year over the next few days.

Kroon's Main Event Comes to an End

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Mark Kroon
Mark Kroon

Mark Kroon drew a lot of attention in this main event for his talkative nature, and for building up his chip stack. He ended Day 1c and 2c as the chip leader, but took a big hit yesterday, and came in as an average stack today. He made the money, but his tournament has just come to an end at the hands of Aditya Agarwal.

An early position player raised it up, and Agarwal called in late position. Kroon tagged along from the big blind, and the three saw a flop of {j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}. It was checked to Agarwal, who bet out 16,000. Kroon opted for a check raise to 36,000, and that got the other player out of the hand. It was back to Agarwal, and he thought it over for a bit before reraising to 86,000. Kroon moved all in for his last 320,000, and Agarwal made the call.

Agarwal: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Kroon: {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The players had to wait for the cameras to get set up, and Kroon started joking with Agarwal. "I run good in these situations, just so you know. The ten of hearts always come." The cameras got set up, and the {3-Clubs} hit the turn, giving Agarwal the nut flush draw, and taking one of Kroon's outs away. "Ten of hearts always comes on the river." The whole table got a laugh out of that, and the river brought the {j-Spades}. Kroon doubled checked that he hadn't found a way to split the pot, and he wished everyone luck, shook everyone's hand, and headed for the payout desk.

After taking down that bounty, Agarwal is now up to over a million, and is one of our bigger stacks as we crack the top 500 players left.

Michael Mizrachi won't be making another November Nine this year. According to former tablemate Brandon Meyers, Mizrachi committed his last 40,000 preflop with {K-}{J-} and couldn't improve against Paul Taylor's {A-}{K-}.

Mizrachi's empty seat has been filled by two-time bracelet winner Dutch Boyd.

Kenney KO'd by Williams

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

Kevin Williams opened to 15,000 and Bryn Kenney three-bet shoved the button for his last 129,000. Williams called, the ESPN cameras rushed over and the cards were tabled.

Williams: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Kenney: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

A classic flip was to be had, and when the dealer dropped a {4-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop, Williams took the lead.

With Kenney needing to hit a two-outer to stay alive, the {10-Hearts} on the turn and {J-Clubs} on the river would ensure he hit the rail as Williams moved to roughly 1,215,000 in chips.

Bottom Set > Top Two

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Rupert Elder - Eliminated
Rupert Elder - Eliminated

Rupert Elder was all in and at risk for roughly 200,000 on a flop of {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} holding {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Unfortunately for the Brit, Keanu Tabali had him at risk with {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for bottom set, and the turn and river bricked {6-Diamonds}, {5-Clubs} respectively.

"Nice hand, man," Elder told Tabali. "Good luck, everybody."

Tabali now sits with around 900,000 chips, and received a little rubbing from Jonathan Jaffe after the hand. Apparently, Tabali tanked for a considerable amount of time during the hand, and Jaffe warned Tabali that he would call the clock in the future.

Tabali didn't seem too phased. "That's your right," he said.

Erik Seidel Eliminated

Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Erik Seidel will have to wait another year to chase his first WSOP Main Event title. Seidel, who famously finished runner-up in this event to Johnny Chan in 1988, barely hung on with a short stack during the first level today. But the eight-time bracelet winner was just eliminated after losing a flip to Marius Pospiech.

Seidel shoved all-in for 57,000 from under the gun, and action folded to Pospiech on the button. He called, and both blinds released.

Seidel: {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Pospiech: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

"That's the best I could hope for," Seidel said as he viewed his opponent's middle pair.

The cameras sprinted over to catch the board run out {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, and the full house of Pospiech sent Seidel to the rail with his fourth career cash in this event.

Bubble Bursts, Steinberg Takes Lead, and Tex Dolly Cashes Again as Break Arrives

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
The hand on which Farzad Bonyadi was eliminated in 649th
The hand on which Farzad Bonyadi was eliminated in 649th

The first level of Day 4 is done and what an exciting two-and-a-half hours it was. The extra time was due to the fact that the cash bubble burst and players in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event are at last making their way to the cashier as the first to get paid in the tournament.

Play resumed with 666 players left, meaning 18 more eliminations were needed to reach the money. Age Ravn, Jarod Ludemann, and Mark Nguyen were among the first to fall today, with Iain Brassell falling shortly thereafter in a nasty hand that saw his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} outrun by {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

Soon hand-for-hand play arrived, and after Yuri Dzivielevski was crippled and then busted in 650th, it would take just a couple of hands more for Farzad Bonyadi to be eliminated in 649th and the bubble to burst.

The eliminations picked up considerably thereafter, with 80 players hitting the rail before the level completed. One player still here and with chips, however, is Doyle "Tex Dolly" Brunson, who today has cashed in the Main Event for the fifth straight decade (!).

The focus will soon return to the big stacks when play resumes, with Max Steinberg having moved to the top of the counts to join Bryan Pellegrino, Nick Schwarmann, Jonathan Lane, Maxx Coleman, Matthew Huey, and a few others in the million-chip club. Meanwhile, Luke Schwartz lost a massive hand right near the end of the level to Josh Pollock that would have catapulted him ahead of everyone into first position.

The break is scheduled to take 20 minutes, but a color-up is needed as well which will add some extra time. Back when play resumes for more from the WSOP Main Event!

Schwartz Takes a Monster Beat For Huge Pot; Receives One Round Penalty

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Luke Schwartz
Luke Schwartz

In one of the biggest hands of the tournament so far, we saw Luke Schwartz take a monster beat for a pot that would've made him the chip leader. The aftermath of the hand earned Schwartz a one round penalty.

Josh Pollock opened from middle position. Action folded around to Schwartz, who reraised in the small blind . Action folded back to Pollock and he put in a fourth bet which was 37,000 more. Schwartz then put in a fifth bet for 60,000 more and action was back to Pollock. He went deep into the tank for almost two minutes before finally announcing that he was all in for a total of 349,000 more. Schwartz snap called.

Schwartz: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Pollock: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

It was a classic cooler situation and since he was on the favorable end, Schwartz pulled out $200 from his pocket and laid it in the dealer's tray. "This is for you," he said.

"I can't accept this right now," the dealer said.

Perhaps Schwartz was hoping for some good fortune so he would be able to fade a king with his tip to the dealer. Unfortunately for him, the flop came down {2-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Schwartz stood up from the table and let out a huge, exasperated sigh. He began pacing around the tan section of the Amazon Room, knocking over chairs, kicking tables and even tearing down a curtain in his path.

The board completed with a {5-Hearts} and a {Q-Spades} and Schwartz came back to the table just to make sure he hadn't hit the ace.

"Wow," he said. "What a f***ing joke."

After the hand and the chips were cut out, a floor moved over to Schwartz's table and issued him a one round penalty for his behavior.

The huge pot set Pollock up to 835,000 in chips while Schwartz was knocked down to under 400,000.
