McEvoy's Aces Cracked

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Tom McEvoy opened to 3,700 from middle position only to have Ernie Hou move all in for 29,000. McEvoy instantly called and the cards were placed on their backs.

McEvoy: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Hou: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The flop of {8-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} gave Hou a double gutshot, and when the turn landed the {K-Hearts} he started calling for a heart not realizing that he had turned the nut straight and that a heart would render him dead unless it was the {9-Hearts}.

The river landed the {2-Diamonds} and Hou was pushed the double to roughly 65,000 as McEvoy slipped back to 58,000 in chips.

Morris Active Early

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Greg Morris and Devin Christie have already tangled numerous times at their table, and just now we watched them battling over successive hands once again.

The first saw them reach the turn with the board showing {6-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Playing out of the big blind, Christie fired a nearly pot-sized bet of 20,000, and after some deliberation Morris called. The river then brought the {9-Diamonds} and checks from both players, and when Christie turned over {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, Morris mucked.

Morris was raising again on the next hand from middle position, and Christie defended his small blind with a call of Morris's 3,800-chip bet. The flop came {6-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, and this time Christie check-folded to a continuation bet of 5,300 from Morris.

Both players have added to their stacks in Level 11, with Morris now sitting with over 330,000.

Boeree Sets One Up

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Liv Boeree opened to 3,400 from under the gun and was called by Randal Flowers in early position and the player in the big blind.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and action checked to Flowers who bet 6,500. The player in the big blind check-raised to 16,000, Boeree called, and Flowers folded. The {8-Spades} followed on the turn and the player in the big blind bet 18,000. Another call from Boeree landed the {7-Diamonds} river which her opponent fired 26,000 at. After a little while in the tank, Boeree called.

Her opponent showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for ace high, while Boeree tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} for bottom set to win the pot.

Quads for Weisner

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The player in middle position opened to 3,200, and was called by Melanie Weisner in late position. Another player and Rupert Elder called from the blinds, as the four saw the flop come {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

The action was checked around, as the {j-Spades} fell on the turn. Both blinds checked, before the original better threw out 5,200. Only Weisner made the call, as the {6-Hearts} completed the board.

After facing another bet of 7,000, Weisner opted to move all in for 170,000. Her opponent made the call, before tabling his {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a full house. Weisner then turned over her {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for quad jacks, eliminating her opponent from the tournament.

Scaife Double Check-Raises, Then Doubles Up Through Vohra

Raj Vohra
Raj Vohra

On the flop, with the board reading {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades}, John Scaife checked, and Raj Vohra bet 11,500. Scaife then check-raised to 27,000. Vohra thought for about two minutes before calling. The turn was the {a-Hearts}, and Scaife checked again. Vohra bet 16,000, and then Scaife executed the rare double check-raise, making it 45,000. Vohra thought for about a minute and then called. The {q-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Scaife led out this time, betting all in. Vohra asked for a exact amount, and the dealer counted 63,600. Vohra now went deep into the tank, thinking for a full ten minutes. Eventually, he put out a stack to call, and Scaife turned over {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a flopped set. Vohra immediately mucked, and Scaife took a big chunk of Vohra's stack. Vohra still has 131,000, and Scaife is now up to

Yockeying for Position

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Following an under-the-gun raise to 3,500, Bryce Yockey called from a seat over and the table folded around.

The flop came a coordinated {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and the original raiser soon pushed out a continuation bet of 6,500. With position on his opponent, Yockey wasted little time raising to 16,000, and after pausing a half-minute his opponent let his hand go.

The Californian adds a few to his starting stack with that hand, helping his effort to position himself to earn a 16th career WSOP cash and first in the Main Event.

Aces For Gazes

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We walked up to a completed board of {4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Kristy Gazes was heads up with Frederik Brink Jensen in a pot that had about 55,000. Jensen checked to Gazes, who fired out a big bet of 35,000. Jensen tanked for a couple of minutes before calling, and Gazes rolled over {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} for top set. Jensen mucked, and Gazes took down the giant pot to almost double the stack she started the day with.
