An Orbit With Michael Mizrachi

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Two-time $50,000 Poker Players' Championship winner Michael Mizrachi is here in the Main Event with a giant stack. With his loose-aggressive style of play, Mizrachi is often playing in many hands and stirring up the action at his table. With Vivek Rajkumar and Kristy Gazes also at his table, we thought it would be very interesting to see what it's like for an entire orbit at Mizrachi's table.

Mizrachi's Starting Chip Stack: 490,000

Hand #1: Mizrachi started the hand from under the gun plus one. He was standing up from the table talking to former November Niner Kelly Kim when the cards were dealt. Another player at the table put Mizrachi's ante in. Mizrachi sat down, looked at his cards, then folded. A player opened on the button to 4,200. Rajkumar called from the big blind. The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {3-Spades}. Rajkumar led for 7,000 and took down the pot when his opponent folded.

Hand #2: Mizrachi folded his hand under the gun. A player opened from middle position and everyone else folded.

Hand #3: Jacob Nielsen opened to 4,200 from the cutoff. Mizrachi called from the big blind. On the flop of {4-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, Mizrachi checked to Nielsen who put out a bet of 3,200. Mizrachi check-raised to 7,000 and Nielsen called.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}, and Mizrachi checked again. Nielsen bet out 7,700 and, for the second time in a row, Mizrachi check-raised, this time to 18,000. Once again, Nielsen called.

The river was the {J-Diamonds}, and Mizrachi checked again. While Nielsen was thinking about his decision Mizrachi tapped the table once, then twice, then four times to let Nielsen know he checked. Nielsen decided to bet anyway. He put out 23,700. Mizrachi grabbed a stack of orange T5,000 chips and counted out 80,000, then 60,000, then he asked how much the bet was. And though it looked like he might pull off a triple check-raise, he ended up folding, allowing Nielsen to take down the pot.

"That would've been so sick," Rajkumar said. "So funny. The trifecta!"

"Did you have a full house?" Mizrachi asked Nielsen, but he received no response.

Hand #4: The player in the hijack seat opened to 4,200. Everyone folded.

Hand #5: A player under the gun raised to 4,500 and everyone folded.

Hand #6: Nielsen opened from middle position to 4,200. Mizrachi called from the cutoff while everyone else folded.

The flop came down {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Nielsen checked to Mizrachi. He bet out 6,000 which drew a raise of 15,500 from Nielsen. Mizrachi called.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds}, and Nielsen bet 22,000. Mizrachi folded.

Hand #7: Mizrachi opened to 4,300 from the hijack seat. He was called by the player on the button, and both blinds folded.

The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, and Mizrachi led for 6,500. The player on the button called. The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, and both players checked.

On the {7-Spades} river Mizrachi led for 14,000. After a while in the tank the button player called, but mucked when Mizrachi showed {J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for two pair.

Hand #8: Rajkumar opened for 5,100. Mizrachi called. The player in the cutoff moved all in and in the next seat over the player on the button moved all in over the top. Both Mizrachi and Rajkumar folded.

Cutoff: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Button: {J-}{J-}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Mizrachi burst out laughing, pulling his hat down over his face as the cutoff doubled through the button.

"I would've made two pair," Mizrachi laughed. "I had the seven-four off."

"You folded the seven-four?" someone at the table asked.

Hand #9: Rajkumar opened to 5,100 from under the gun. Only Mizrachi called.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Rajkumar led with a bet of 8,000. Mizrachi called. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Rajkumar opted to check. Mizrachi put out a bet of 15,000, which Rajkumar called. On the {K-Diamonds} river Rajkumar checked again, only to face another bet of 25,500 from Mizrachi.

Rajkumar called quickly. Mizrachi showed his {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a pair of queens, but it was no good as Rajkumar showed {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

"Nice hand," Mizrachi said. "Did you think about raising?" Rajkumar just shook his head.

Hand #10: A player opened under the gun for 4,200. In the next seat Mizrachi reraised to 9,000. Everyone else folded but the under-the-gun player called. The flop came down {J-Hearts}{A-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and the under-the-gun player checked to Mizrachi who led for 6,000. The under-the-gun player quickly made it 17,000, and Mizrachi called.

On the {7-Spades} turn, the under-the-gun player moved all in for roughly 50,000. Mizrachi snap-called.

Under the Gun: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Mizrachi: {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The river was the {8-Spades} which was a brick and Mizrachi scooped the pot.

"I bounce back fast," Mizrachi said as he collected the pot.

Quad Queens Cripple Seiver

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

Scott Seiver raised to 4,200 in middle position, and action folded to Carter Gill in the small blind. He reraised to 15,000, and it got back to Seiver. He thought his options over for a bit before moving all in, and Gill called off his final 117,800.

Seiver: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Gill: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Seiver was in great shape to all but double up, but the tides turned when the flop came down {4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Gill had spiked his two outer, and it was Seiver who was now hoping to catch an unlikely card. The {4-Spades} came on the turn, and to rub salt in the wounds, the {q-Hearts} came on the river to give Gill quads.

That pot knocked Seiver down to just 9,700, or less then five big blinds, and he was eliminated just a few minutes later.

Huey Wins Big Pot; Closes in on Chip Lead

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Mathew Huey
Mathew Huey

The action started with the player in middle position opening to 4,300, before Mathew Huey raised it up to 13,000 from the hijack. Justin Liberto then paused for a moment, before bumping it up to 27,700. The original better got out of the way, before Huey quickly raised it up once more to 50,000. Liberto tanked for a minute, before making the call.

The flop came down {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Liberto checked. Huey instantly reached for his chips, and slid out another 50,000. He was called, as the {7-Spades} fell on the turn. Liberto quickly checked, and Huey paused for a second, before moving all in for over 300,000.
The bet had Liberto covered, who then agonised over his decision. He sat forward in his seat, shaking his head, and riffling his chips rather vigorously. Almost two minutes went by before he made the call, as both players tabled their cards.

Huey: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Liberto: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Liberto had run into an over pair, and needed a miracle on the river to stay alive. Unfortunately, the {6-Spades} completed the board, as Liberto quickly exited the Amazon Room, leaving Huey to stack up his new found wealth.

DeWitt Move Benefits Cody

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Jason DeWitt
Jason DeWitt

We were passing by the table where Jake Cody and Jason DeWitt are sitting side-by-side to discover the pair embroiled in a preflop battle. Cody had the button and DeWitt was in the small blind, and by the time we arrived Cody had 11,400 slid out in front of him while DeWitt had raised to 25,500. Cody then made it 44,800 to go, and after sitting for a few moments DeWitt declared he was all in and Cody called immediately to put his entire stack of 190,100 at risk.

Cody flipped over {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} while DeWitt kind of reluctantly turned over his {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}. The flop came {3-Spades}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades}, pairing DeWitt's queen and providing a bit of a sweat for Cody even though he had the spade draw covered. But the turn was the {7-Diamonds} and river the {9-Hearts}, and suddenly Cody has surged back up toward 400,000 while DeWitt takes a big hit to tumble down under 25,000.

Moffatt Can't Save Chan

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan

Tuan Le opened the action with a raise to 4,500 from under the gun. Action folded all the way around to Johnny Chan in the small blind who moved all in for his last 45,000 chips. Then, from the big blind, Colin Moffatt moved all in as well with a covering stack. Action was back on Le who tanked for about 30 seconds before releasing his hand.

Chan: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Moffat: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} keeping Chan in the lead. The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and Le was visibly upset upon seeing the card. "You're lucky he moved all in, otherwise I call you Johnny," Le said, explaining that he had folded ace queen.

"I know," Chan said, patting Moffat on the back. "Thanks for saving me!"

But it wasn't over yet. The {7-Hearts} hit the river, giving Moffat the lead with his rivered full house. With that, Chan was eliminated from the tournament and he made his exit from the Brasilia room.

Mader Doubles Through Ivey

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Over on the main feature table, Phil Mader raised from early position. Action then folded to Phil Ivey in the big blind, and he made the call to see the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop. This is where the action got heavy.

After Ivey checked, Mader fired 6,000. Ivey check-raised to 20,000, Mader came back over the top with a reraise to 51,000. Ivey moved all in to put Mader to the test, and Mader called off the remainder of his stack. Mader was all in for 138,800 in chips, while Ivey had him covered.

The hands were shown and it was Ivey's {8-Spades}{6-Hearts} in the lead for a flopped two pair — top two pair. Mader had an overpair with {J-}{J-} and needed some help if he was going to stay alive.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, and now Ivey needed to fade a queen, jack or five on the river to win the pot and knock out Mader. The river card was the {J-Diamonds}, delivering a set of jacks to Mader and winning him the hand. Ivey sent over the chips and dropped back to 186,000 or so. Mader doubled to nearly 300,000.

Warne Bowls Wrong'Un, Gets Hit Out of the Park

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Shane Warne
Shane Warne

Australian Cricket Star Shane Warne is no longer a part of the Main Event. We didn't catch the entire hand but we know that on a board of {7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} with a huge pot in the middle of the table, Warne's opponent put him to an all in decision for roughly 40,000 more chips.

Warne called it off and showed {J-}{5-} for a pair of jacks with the pair of sevens on board, but his opponent did him one better and showed {A-Spades}{J-Spades} for a pair of jacks with the sevens on board and an ace kicker. Warned mucked his hand and left the Brasilia room not looking too happy about being busted.

Kroon Maintains Lead at First Break; Tuan Le has Monstrous Level 11

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Mark Kroon
Mark Kroon

We've reached the first break here on Day 3 of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event. For the first time in the tournament, the entire field is in the building at the same time. Players were spread into three rooms when play began, and after two levels the Pavilion has been completely cleared out. The tournament board currently reads 1,485 players still in contention for the $8.3 million top prize.

Mark Kroon is still leading the way with about 685,000 in chips, adding almost 150,000 to his stack since the day began. Kroon picked up pocket aces early in the day and eliminated a player who had ace-king.

Chasing Kroon for the pole position are Victor Figueroa, Nick Schwarmann, Dirk Vanluijk, and Tuan Le, who won a huge pot against Johnny Chan less than an hour ago.

Several former world champs are still in the mix, including Greg Merson, Carlos Mortensen, Tom McEvoy and Doyle Brunson, who is seated at the secondary feature table. Mortensen has been climbing early on, and he used a lucky flop to increase his stack to 365,000. McEvoy, meanwhile, had his aces cracked by ace-queen.

Several notables have been sent packing, including Xuan Liu, Robert Mizrachi, John Racener, David Vamplew, and Kevin Pollak, who missed his flush draw to end his run early of the money.

See you in 20 minutes!

Rajkumar Takes it Down With a Stone Bluff

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Vivek Rajkumar
Vivek Rajkumar

When we approached Vivek Rajkumar's table he had moved all in with a covering stack after a check from James Rubenstein. The board read {2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and there was roughly 100,000 chips in the pot.

"Will you show me if I fold?" Rubenstein asked. Rajkumar didn't say anything. Camera crews began to swarm around the table to film the hand. Eventually Rubenstein turned up the {A-Clubs} and he folded his hand. The dealer put it aside to be taped for the broadcast.

Rajkumar made it easy for the camera's though, he proudly turned up his {8-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a stone bluff and took down the pot. Rubenstein could only shake his head.

Schwarmann Shows a Bluff?

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Nick Schwarmann put an opponent to the test.
Nick Schwarmann put an opponent to the test.

Nick Schwarmann, on the button, called a four-bet before the flop for around 20,000, and he and hijack saw the {7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} hit the board. The hijack continuation-bet 12,000, and Schwarmann made the call. The turn brought a {k-Spades}, and the hijack checked. Schwarmann bet 27,000, and his opponent wasted no time calling. The river was the {q-Spades}, completing possible flush and straight draws. The hijack checked, and Schwarmann put him all in for about 72,000. The player thought briefly before folding, and Schwarmann showed the {6-Clubs} as he mucked his hand.
