The hand started with the player under the gun opening to 2,400. The table folded around to Victor Figueroa on the button, who asked for a count, before making the call. The option then fell on the big blind, who raised it up to 7,500, which saw the original better get out of the way. After a short pause, Figueroa made the call.
The flop came down , and the player in the big blind instantly reached for his chips. He then threw out a continuation bet of 8,000, and waited for Figueroa to act. A minute passed, before a raise to 16,000 was placed out. Figueroa’s opponent then went into his own tank, before bumping it up to 42,000, which was enough to take down the pot, as Figueroa mucked shortly after.
Figueroa still sits amongst the chip leaders, even after losing that hand.

After the button raised to 2,500, Mike Antal three-bet to 7,500. Kevin Song then four-bet to 16,500. Antal thought for a minute, then re-raised to 55,000. Kevin Song then went deep into the tank. He spent over five full minutes rechecking his cards, counting out chips, and considering his options. Eventually, he put in a sixth bet to 100,000. Antal moved all in for a little more, and Song called. Song turned over , and he was behind Antal's . The board missed both players, and Antal won the pot. The dealer counted down the stacks, and found Antal had 109,300. Song cut out that amount to give to Antal, knocking him down to 110,000, while Antal doubled up.

It seems to happen at least once each year — a player who survives to continue in the marathon that is the World Series of Poker Main Event not making it back to continue to play a subsequent day.
We mentioned earlier how Rajendra "Ray" Ajmani had made it through Day 1c having nearly doubled the starting stack to end the day with 58,850, but had not returned for today's Day 2c. His seat remains empty, and after four-and-a-half levels' worth of blinds and antes have been taken from it, his stack is now at 4,400 and will not last through Level 10.

Not long after Jake Cody won a hand where his opponent turned a set only to have him river a better set, we had an eerily similar situation that saw Max Heinzelmann get eliminated.
We saw a player limp under the gun, and action folded all the way around to Heinzelmann in the small blind. He moved the rest of his chips in, 18,5000 in total, and when his opponent got the count, he made the call.
Heinzelmann:
Opponent:
Heinzelmann started to get up and gather his things when he saw the hands, but he slowed down when the flop came . Heinzelmann shot out to the lead, but the on the turn gave his opponent an open ended straight draw. He wouldn't need it though, as the came on the river, giving Heinzelmann's opponent a better set. Heinzelmann made a hasty retreat out of the room, as his main event comes to an end on the last level of the night.
