Feel the Burn(s)

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We noticed a player eagerly shove his short stack into the middle, and Jim Burns respond in kind with a call. Burns held {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and was racing against the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} held by his opponent.

Flop: {3-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

Burns took the lead with top pair on the flop, and his opponent was left hoping for a miraculous ten to save his tournament life.

Turn: {8-Clubs}

No ten arrived on the turn, but the club added backdoor flush outs to the vulnerable player's list of lifelines.

River: {6-Hearts}

Despite his urgent calls of "club, club" Burns' opponent blanked the river, and he was sent to the payout desk to collect his winnings.

Kelly Flushed on the River

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We caught with the action on the river with the board showing {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. Dan Kelly was in the hand with one other player, who led out for 20,000. Kelly called after only a few moments, and his opponent tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a rivered, runner-runner flush. Kelly mucked his cards, and was slowly shaking his head as his opponent pulled in the pot. However, Kelly is still in good shape with about 150,000.

Paul White Surges, Nearing Overall Chip Lead

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Paul White, who is known to some as "Zar-Dog," just took a big bite from Kenny Nguyen, taking the former WSOP Circuit ring winner's entire stack and approaching the overall chip lead in one fell swoop.

We missed the action firsthand, but after White was finished stacking his newly acquired towers of chips, he recapped the proceedings for us.

Apparently, Nguyen and White took a flop of {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Nguyen led out for a bet. White min-raised back and called after Nguyen elected to shove his stack forward.

Showdown:

White: {6-}{6-}
Nguyen: {A-Spades}{7-Spades}

Nguyen had flopped a monster draw with his flush and straigh possibilities, but two of the sixes he needed for a gutshot were held by White. When the turn and river brought nothing but blanks, White claimed a massive pot and eliminated a dangerous opponent in a single stroke.

Hunichen Loses Some

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Chris Hunichen was at the turn on a board of {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and he was facing a bet of 20,800. He decided to make the call. The river was the {10-Diamonds}. The action went check-check and Hunichen's opponent showed {j-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. That was good enough and Hunichen lost the hand. Hunichen is down to 140,000.

Harder Chipping Up

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Christian Harder was in the big blind and faced a raise to 3,300. He 3-bet to 10,100, and his opponent called. On a {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop, action was checked to Harder, who bet 10,000. His opponent folded, and Harder took the pot. Harder has been steadily adding to his stack, and is now sitting with about 70,000 in front of him.

Bryn and Bear It

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A player in middle position opened for 3,300 and Bryn Kenney called from the button, bringing on a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Kenney's opponent led out for 4,800, and after a raise to 12,400, the player shoved his stack of 29,800 into the middle. Holding {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the nut flush draw, Kenny called and found himself leading against the {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Both players connected with their draws on the {8-Diamonds} turn, but Kenney's flush was unbeatable. He added a notch to his belt, while building his stack to 192,000 and putting himself in position for a deep run here on Day 2 of the "Millionaire Maker" tournament.

Tony Clough is a Ladies' Man

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With a pot of over 24,000 chips sitting in the middle waiting to be won, Tony Clough was faced with a bet of 20,000, enough to put his tournament life at risk. He tanked for a minute or so and stared at his opponent calmly, before electing to call with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

His opponent immediately slid his cards into the muck, and Clough claimed a sizable pot before players depart for tonight's dinner break.
