Roller Coaster Continues for Anderson

Nível 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Not long after we reported that Calvin Anderson had doubled, we saw him get crippled, then double again in a matter of a few hands. On the first hand, we got to the table as David "ODB" Baker was betting, and Calvin Anderson called. Baker drew one, while Anderson drew two, and the same betting action occurred. Baker stood pat this time, while Anderson drew one, and Baker bet in the dark. Anderson folded, and we overheard Baker saying that he had gotten a number two, which is {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

A few hands later, we saw Farhad Momeni raise from the button, and Anderson defend his big blind. Anderson drew three while Momeni drew two, and Anderson check called off his last 5,000. Anderson actually stood pat the rest of the hand, while Momeni drew one each time. Anderson showed {9-}{8-}{5-}{3-}{2-}, and Momeni fanned out {8-}{7-}{5-}{2-}. He would need a six, five, or four to win, but he drew a {q-} instead, giving Anderson the double up to 30,000.

Anderson Doubles Again; Sabic Out in 20th

Nível 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Soon after play resumed, two of the short stacks — Sebastien Sabic and Calvin Anderson — were both all in and at risk at neighboring tables.

In Anderson's case, he was all in against Ismael Bojang and after drawing one on the first round stood pat thereafter. Bojang drew two, then one, then one. Anderson ended with a {9-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{2-} while Bojang paired up on the end, finishing with {8-}{7-}{7-}{5-}{3-}, and Anderson survived.

Meanwhile, Sabic wasn't so lucky on the next table in his hand versus Marco Johnson. He was down to less than 10,000 to start the level, and lost it all in his last hand versus "Crazy Marco."

They are down to 19 now, meaning with the next elimination there will be a redraw for the final three tables.

Updated Chip Counts; 20 Remain

Nível 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Just before the break, Eli Elezra called out to Marco Johnson at the neighboring table.

"Hey Marco!" said Elezra. "Is the Grinder good... or is he just lucky?" Johnson looked up over his shoulder to respond.

"He's... the Grinder." 'Nuff said.

Brubaker Doubles, Then Triples

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Brian Brubaker was down to just his last 7,000, but he quickly turned that into 45,000 in back-to-back hands. In the first hand, Brubaker was all in before the first draw, and Sebastian Sabic made the call. Both players drew two the first draw, one the second draw, and on the third draw, Sabic stood pat, while Brubaker drew one. Sabic showed {9-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}, and Brubaker tabled {5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. He flipped his last card up, a {7-} for the wheel, and he took down the pot to double up.

On the next hand, Brubaker raised it up from under the gun, and Sabic made it three bets. Mizrachi called, as did Brubaker, and everyone drew two cards. Mizrachi checked to Brubaker, who fired out. Sabic called, then Mizrachi raised, and both players called, with Brubaker calling all in. Brubaker drew two again, while Mizrachi and Sabic both drew one. They checked it through, and again they both drew one, while Brubaker patted. It was checked again, and the {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} of Brubaker bested the {10-} low of Sabic and the {j-} low of Mizrachi.

Townsend, Hale Out; 20 Remain

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Two more eliminations to report, both coming in rapid fashion over on Table 347.

The first to go was Dale Townsend after having gotten involved in a three-way hand versus Brant Hale and Farhad Momeni. Momeni had taken the lead early in the drawing in that one, standing pat while the other two kept taking cards. Hale finally dropped out on the third draw, after Townsend was all in, and Townsend was needing one more card while Momeni continued to stand pat.

Momeni had a number four — {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-} — while Townsend had {7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and slim hopes of drawing a suitable fifth card. Alas for Townsend, he picked up another {3-} on the end and was knocked out in 22nd place.

After losing chips in that hand, Brant Hale soon followed Townsend to the rail in 21st place after losing the last of his stack to Calvin Anderson.

Brubaker Doubles Through Puchkov

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Konstantin Puchkov raised and a short-stacked Brian Brubaker called from the big blind. Brubaker took three on the first draw while Puchkov took but one. Brubaker then check-raised Puchkov's bet and the Russian just called, leaving Brubaker with just a couple of chips left.

Both took one on the last draw and Brubaker got the last of his chips in the middle. Puchkov stood pat on the end while Brubaker drew one, so Puchkov showed his {9-}{8-}{7-}{3-}{2-} first.

Brubaker fanned out his {8-}{7-}{4-}{2-}, then turned over his final card... a {3-}. Brubaker had survived, although is still sitting with only about a half-dozen big bets.

Amundsgard Busts With Number Four

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

We were only able to walk up in time to see the hands at the end, but we do know that Stian Amundsgard was all in after the second draw with {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}. His opponent, Eric Wasserson, also stood pat after the second draw, and he showed one of the few hands that had Amundsgard beat: {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. Amundsgard thus hit the rail in 23rd.
