Lee Nearlys Triples While Eliminating 1978 WSOP Main Event Champ

Chris Lee opened for 60,000 in early position and was met by a three-bet to 135,000 by Eugene Katchalov on the button. Bobby Baldwin, who won the World Series of Poker way back in 1978, then shoved all in for 315,000 from the big blind. Lee moved all in over the top for 525,000 or so and Katchalov called to put both of them at risk.

Baldwin was in bad shape, and so was Lee as Katchalov had the granddaddy of all hands. Fortunately for Lee, he would receive a reprieve when the

Kid Poker Felled by the Unabomber

We saw the railbirds surrounding the feature table get up on their feet and immediately knew trouble was afoot. We raced to the table just in time to see the classic flip between Daniel Negreanu's and Phil "The Unabomber" Laak's 
.
Negreanu was the one at risk for roughly 450,000, and he was also the one that needed to improve to stay alive in Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em.
Much to Negreanu's dismay, and that of his supporters, the board ran out a lowly 
and the man nicknamed "Kid Poker" was eliminated from the tournament.
Out in 41st place in One Drop paid 24 spots had AK suited vs Phil Laak 99 and he won the raceFollow @RealKidPoker

"I LOVE YOU ANTONIO!" Perkins yelled.
Phil Laak got in on the action, shouting from the feature table, and Perkins joyfully dragged in the more than 1.4-million chip pot.

Jason Somerville has been nursing a short stack for quite some time, but his time in this tournament just came to an end courtesy of Richard Fullerton.
It happened when Somerville moved all in from early position for 328,000 and received a call from Fullerton on the button. Both blinds folded and the cards were turned up.

Laak Turns the Nuts

Andrew Lichtenberger raised to 65,000 from the hijack seat, Phil Laak called on the button, and Jason Mo defended his big blind. The flop fell , Mo and Lichtenberger both checked, and Laak fired out 155,000. Only Mo called.
The turn was the , Mo checked, and Laak asked the dealer to spread the pot. He then fired out a hefty bet of 456,000, and Mo check-raised all in for effectively 1,056,000.
"I call," Laak said instantly. "I have the nuts."

Mo had flopped a straight, but Laak indeed turned the nuts. Mo could still bust the Unabomber with a spade on the river, but it was not to be as the completed the board.
Mo plummeted to around 250,000 chips, while Laak now has over 2.6 million chips.
A few hands later, Olivier Busquet busted Jason Senti with unknown action.
