Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em

Dia 1 Iniciado

$111,111 One Drop Begins at Noon

Today marks the kick off of the largest buy-in tournament on the 2013 World Series of Poker schedule, Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em. Last year, the WSOP held the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop that shattered records for the largest buy-in tournament ever held, and this year it will be looking to shatter more records in terms of the largest field ever to play a six-figure buy-in event.

In 2006, the first six-figure buy-in poker event was held with the AU$100,000 Speed Poker Million Dollar Challenge at the 2006 Crown Australian Poker Championships. That event attracted 10 entries and was won by John Juanda for AU$1,000,000. The largest field size and prize pool in a six-figure buy-in event was the recent 2013 GuangDong Ltd. Asia Millions HK$1,000,000 (approx. $130,000) Main Event where 71 unique players competed and there were 54 re-entries made, creating a total field size of 125 entries. The WSOP's $111,111 One Drop High Rollers event is expected to surpass that number of entries, but will have to do so without re-entries available.

Many of poker's top players took the day off yesterday, opting not to buy into the gold bracelet events that were kicking off because they knew they wouldn't want to risk anything getting in the way of the start of this massive event. Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu are two of those players, and two of the biggest names in poker that are expected in the field today. Others expected to be in action are Erik Seidel, John Juanda, Greg Merson, Sam Trickett, Kyle Julius, Antonio Esfandiari, Jake Cody, Mohsin Charania, Faraz Jaka, Eugene Katchalov, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Bill Perkins, Dan Shak, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, and so many more.

Another player who will be in the contest is Owais Ahmed, WSOP gold bracelet winner. Ahmed's entry is special because he won the WSOP.com drawing for the $111,111 seat into this event.

For this special event, players will begin with 300,000 in tournament chips and the blinds will start at 300/600/100. Each level will last 60 minutes in length, and the official WSOP structure sheet can be found here.

The cards will be in the air at 12 p.m. local time in Las Vegas a the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. If you're in the area, feel free to come on down and rail the event live. If you're not, rest assured because the PokerNews Live Reporting Team has you covered all day long.

Strap in and get ready for an exciting day of poker. We'll see you back here in a bit.

Delayed Start

High Roller events rarely go off on time, and that is the case with Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em. There are quite a few players in their seats and even more lingering about the Amazon Room. We expect a brief introductory ceremony and then cards should be in the air. Stay tuned!

Shuffle Up And Deal

Nível 1 : 300/600, 100 ante

After a short introduction to the good work the One Drop organization is doing by Jeff Gross and Antonio Esfandiari, the tournament now has started. Esfandiari announced the shuffle up and deal and the cards are in the air. The dealer button started out in seat two, the players are playing 300/600 with a 100 ante.

A Little on the BIG ONE for ONE DROP

Nível 1 : 300/600, 100 ante

The BIG ONE for ONE DROP™ is back at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Granted, it’s not the $1,111,111 buy-in feature last year—which raised $5.6 million for ONE DROP—but today's Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em is still the biggest buy-in event of the summer. This year’s three-day incarnation boasts a $111,111 buy-in, of which 3% will go to the ONE DROP charity and $107,777 towards the prize pool.

“ONE DROP is doing important and impactful work and we intend to continue to help their efforts,” said Mitch Garber, CEO, Caesars Interactive Entertainment, Inc. “We were wildly successful out the gate in 2012, but we can’t slow down. Access to clean water is a worldwide issue that needs our continued attention and Caesars, the WSOP and the poker community will continue to go All In for ONE DROP.”

ONE DROP chairperson Guy Laliberté, who finished fifth in last year’s event, added: “It’s amazing what you can achieve when you dream. We took a concept and turned it into the most successful poker initiative ever held. As a result, ONE DROP has transformed 150,000 lives. Projects in Honduras, El Salvador and Burkina Faso have already put the money to use. With these type of initiatives, we can continue to impact the lives of those in need, while at the same time raising awareness of the impact water has on our planet.”

Among those in today's field are WSOP bracelet winner Owais Ahmed, who won a seat yesterday in WSOP.com’s summer-long giveaway; nine-time bracelet winner Phil Ivey; South African Jarred Solomon; former EPT Grand Final champ Mohsin Charania; David "Doc" Sands, who recently talked to PokerNews about his excitement; the always-aggressive Faraz Jaka; and good friends Phil Laak, Jeff Gross and Antonio Esfandiari, just to name a few.

Interestingly, Esfandiari, who actually one last year’s tournament for $18 million, recently traveled to Honduras and El Salvador with Gross and Laak to visit ONE DROP’s projects.

“ONE DROP’s initiatives are not just about giving access to water, they are about giving hope for a brighter future,” said Esfandiari. “The money we raise for ONE DROP goes a long way and it changes lives forever.”

All In and a Call

Nível 1 : 300/600, 100 ante

Bill Klein, David Benyamine, and Greg Mueller were three handed on a board of {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. The action checked to Mueller, who tossed out a bet. Klein folded, and Benyamine check-raised to 18,500. Mueller called.

The river was the {2-Hearts}, and Benyamine fired out 39,000. Mueller raised to 144,500, Benyamine moved all in, and after a second or two, Mueller called.

Benyamine tabled {6-Hearts}{5-Spades} for the nuts, and Mueller showed {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the exact same hand.
