"Bakes" Baked

Nível 7 : 250/500, 0 ante

We didn't see how it happened, but now there is only one David Baker left in the field, and that's the original David Baker. Looks like David "Bakes" Baker will have to wait for another tournament to make a deep run in, because he's no longer among the field here on Day 1.

"ODB" Pushes His Way To Victory

David Baker

We caught up to David "ODB" Baker on a flop of {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Baker had a bet of 3,250 in front of him. His opponent then put in a reraise to 5,450. Action folded back to "ODB" who put in another reraise to 9,250 which was close to putting his opponent all in.

After about two minutes in the tank, the player folded and "ODB" was able to scoop the pot without a showdown.

Ahmed Busts; Prepares for One Drop

Owais Ahmed
Owais Ahmed

Earlier today, Owais Ahmed won a seat to the $111,111 buy-in One Drop tournament and we all wondered how he was going to play because he had a decent sized stack in this tournament. Notice how we said "had?" That's because he has now busted out.

Ahmed and Paul Tedeschi got into a raising war on a {2-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop that resulted in Ahmed being all in and at risk of elimination.

Ahmed: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Tedeschi: {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

Ahmed's hand stayed best when the {3-Hearts} landed on the turn, but then lost the entire pot (and his place in this event) when the {6-Clubs} appeared on the river. Tedeschi scooped the huge pot with his six-high straight, which also doubled as a 6-5-4-3-2 low.

Tehan Out

Nível 7 : 250/500, 0 ante

We saw Joe Tehan getting up from his chair and leaving the tournament area recently. We didn't catch the action but we know Tehan was holding {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} against an opponents {A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{q-Hearts} on a board of {q-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} which made him a flush and better low than Tehan.

Quarter for Madsen

Nível 7 : 250/500, 0 ante

On a board of {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} Jeff Madsen moved all in over the top of one players flop bet. The original bettor called and it was off the the races.

Madsen: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Bettor: {5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds} on the turn and {4-Clubs} on the river, giving both players the same straight for the high hand, but the bettor a better low than Madsen with his {3-Clubs} and {2-Clubs}.

With that Madsen was quartered and left with a minimal amount of chips.

Liebert Doubles Up, But Still Short

Nível 7 : 250/500, 0 ante

Kathy Liebert's stack has doubled after a clash with Mike Matusow went her way. Liebert moved all in for 600 chips and Matusow called saying "I have the worst hand in history," before turning over his cards.

Liebert: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Matusow: {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Liebert's lowly pocket fives were enough to scoop the whole pot.

A List of Notables Who Are No Longer With Us

Nível 6 : 200/400, 0 ante

Here's a list of notables who are no longer a part of this tournament:

Frankenberger Chewed Up

Andy Frankenberger at an earlier event
Andy Frankenberger at an earlier event

Andy Frankenberger's quest to win his third bracelet will have to wait a little longer because he's been eliminated from this event.

Frankenberger's {J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} fell foul to the {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} of his opponent when it made quad aces on the {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{A-Spades} board.
