Selbst Doubles One Up

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

We didn't see where the money got in but Vanessa Selbst was holding {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} on a board of {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Her opponent was holding {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a flopped set and that was good enough for Selbst to be counting out chips to ship over to him. Selbst is still above starting stack but is relatively short compared to the average and the blinds.

Plenty of Extras Being Given Away At This Year's WSOP

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

The buzz inside the walls of the Rio extends beyond just the tournaments on the 2013 World Series of Poker schedule. Online poker in Nevada is a very, very hot topic right now, and WSOP.com is making a lot of noise.

While the site has yet to launch, you can head to the Lambada Room of the Rio or look for one of the beautiful and friendly WSOP.com ladies walking the hallways to sign up for a free, personal WSOP.com online poker account. This is a great way to get a jump on the site's registration, and plenty of people have already taken this opportunity.

What's more is that the WSOP will be hosting daily raffles for everyone that has taken the time to register for WSOP.com at the Rio. What can you win? Plenty of fantastic prizes including 36 WSOP seats!

Players 21 years of age and older who sign up for a WSOP.com account will automatically be entered into the “36-Seat Giveaway” where a randomly-selected winner will win a seat into the next day’s first WSOP gold bracelet event. One of the events eligible in this promotion is the $111,111 One Drop High Roller No-Limit Hold’em tournament that is expected to feature a $10,000,000 prize pool and allow you to play poker with the biggest names in the game. In total, $182,333 in WSOP seats, including a seat to the WSOP Main Event, are being given away during this one-of-a-kind WSOP.com promotion.

In addition to the 36-Seat Giveaway, a “Hot Seat” promotion will allow any player who signs up for a WSOP.com online account and wears their WSOP.com patch on their chest at the table while playing an event to be randomly selected to receive 500 bonus dollars deposited directly into their WSOP.com online account once the site has received all regulatory approvals and launches.

With 62 WSOP gold bracelet events and three winners promised for the Main Event, this promotion includes $32,000 worth of value to those participating.

Nitsche and Engel Sporting Big Stacks

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

We came by Ari Engel's table and he was involved in a small pot. Engel called a raise of 400 from a player in early middle position. From the big blind a player reraised to 1,400 and both players folded.

While seemingly inconsequential the pot led us to see what a big stack Engel was sporting. It was nearly 20,000 chips. Just a few seats over Dominik Nitsche was also supporting a monster stack for this level. He had even more than Engel with 22,500. The two are bound to collide at some point in the day as it doesn't look as if their table will break for a while.

Dozier Gone, Frankenberger Gone

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
Andy Frankenberger
Andy Frankenberger

When we came to Katie Dozier and Andy Frankenberger's table, Dozier was already gone while Frankenberger was all in and at risk for his tournament life against two other players.

Frankenberger: {7-}{8-}
Player 1: {7-}{7-}
Player 2: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} giving Frankenberger a bunch of new outs. "I need an eight. I need an eight!" he said to the dealer as the turn was being dealt. It wasn't an eight though, it was the {j-Diamonds}. The river was the {6-Diamonds}, completing the board, awarding the pot to the player with {7-}{7-}.

Frankenberger got up from his table and headed for the rail.

Yogo Doubles

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

We arrived at the table, just in time to see Iori Yogo get payed off by his opponent. The board read {Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, and his {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} was the only hand tabled. The dealer counted out his stack, which totalled 7,050, which his opponent then proceeded to hand over.

Frankenberger Sucks Out to Double Through Racener

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
Andy Frankenberger
Andy Frankenberger

Preflop Andy Frankenberger moved all in from the cutoff only to be called quickly by John Racener on the button. Frankenberger turned up his {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and was slightly behind Racener's {K-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, but he was still live.

The {Q-Spades} in the window looked like a disaster for Frankenberger, but the {10-Hearts} and {3-Clubs} completed the flop, keeping him live to another ten or a nine. The turn was just what Frankenberger needed when it fell the {9-Hearts}. The {10-Spades} completed the board giving Frankenberger the winning full house and allowing him to double through Racener.

Kelly Enters and Gives Opponents Head Start

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Dan Kelly just arrived in the building looking to add to his already impressive resume here in 2013 at the World Series of Poker. Looks like he's giving his opponents a head start here in Event #42 as he's already lost a bunch of chips.

Preflop Kelly opened to 450 and was called by one opponent on the button. Both players checked through the {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop to the {8-Spades} on the turn. On the turn, Kelly fired out a bet of 700 which was called by the players on the button. The river was the {J-Hearts} and Kelly check called a bet of 1,000.

"Straight," his opponent announced, showing the {A-Spades}{7-Spades}. Kelly nodded his head and mucked his cards as he was left short here on day one.
