Levi Berger Holds Big Lead, Clements Looking for Bracelet #3

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We were expecting an action packed ten levels here at Day 2 of Event #11 $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Six Handed, and boy, we were not disappointed. Everywhere we looked, players were four-betting and five-betting each other, and at the end of all the madness, Levi Berger leads the final 14 going into Day 3. He bagged up a whopping 1.42 million chips, which is good for more then a half-million chip lead over the field.

Berger was all but out of this tournament in level 19 when he got in a huge all in confrontation with James Carroll. Berger ended up calling a six-bet shove from Carroll with queens, and ran square into the pocket aces of Carroll. However, Berger turned an unlikely two outer, and he rode that wave to a giant chip lead at night's end.

The day began with 122 player, but only 108 of them would make the money. Amongst the unlucky 14 who walked away empty handed were John Beauprez, who just won the $1,500 Six-Max a few days ago, Mike Leah, and Corey Burbick, who was the stone bubble boy when his Ace-King couldn’t catch up to the pocket fours of Andrew Lichtenberger.

From there, we lost a bunch of notables in the money, including Erick Lindgren (102nd), JC Tran (83rd), David Peters (41st), David Randall (31st), Chino Rheem (28th), Chris Moorman (25th), and Jeff Lisandro (17th).

That’s enough about the players who didn’t make Day 3. Those who will be coming back tomorrow, and are still alive for the gold bracelet and the $473,019 top prize, includie Tuan Le (873,000) and Scott Clements (842,000), who are second and third in chips coming into tomorrow. Eddy Sabat (694,000), Jacob Bazeley (638,000), and 2012 bracelet winner Clifford Goldkind (318,000) also advanced to the final day.

We will kick back off again tomorrow at 1 PM, with the plan to play down to a winner. If one hasn't emerged by the end of ten levels, then the remaining players will come back on Friday for a fourth day, but hopefully it won’t come to that. Pokernews.com will have all the hand-for-hand action at the final table, so be sure to tune back in then!

Day 3 Table and Seat Draw

Thad Smith Eliminated in 15th ($17,657)

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Thad Smith - 15th Place
Thad Smith - 15th Place

On the last hand of the night, Thad Smith raised it from the button, and Levi Berger called from the small blind. The flop came down {a-Clubs}{10-}{4-Clubs}, and the two players got in a raising war that saw all the chips get into the middle.

Smith: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Berger: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Berger's middle pair and flush draw was a coin flip against Smith, and Berger just went ahead and ended it on the turn with the {8-Clubs}. The meaningless river was the {5-Hearts}, and with that knockout, Berger bagged a huge lead with a stack of 1,420,000

Amir Lehavot Eliminated in 16th Place ($17,657)

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Amir Lehavot - 16th Place
Amir Lehavot - 16th Place

Amir Lehavot opened from under the gun to 16,000, and he was called by Scott Clements in the cutoff, Tuan Le on the button, and Marcio Cid in the big blind.

The flop came down {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, and it was checked to Lehavot, who fired out 25,000. Clements made it 56,500. The other two got out of the way. Lehavot moved all in his last 136,000, and Clements made the call.

Clements: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Lehavot: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Lehavot was looking to complete his straight, but it never came, as the board ran down {4-Diamonds} and {4-Hearts}, boosting Clements to 840,000.

Tibbles Doubles Through Turmezey

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Tamara Tibbles
Tamara Tibbles

Tammy Tibbles limped in from the small blind, and Peter Turmezey moved all in from the big blind. Tibbles snap called, and just like that, we had a 500,000 chip pot on our hands.

Tibbles: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Turmezey: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Both players had pairs, but Tibbles was well out in front. That status was reaffirmed when the flop came down {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. The board completed {2-Diamonds} and {10-Spades}, and TIbbles notched a key end of night double to 512,000, while Turmezey is down to 293,000.

The Hearts Love Goldkind

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Jacob Bazeley made it 16,000 to go from the cutoff, and Luke Vrabel made the call on the button. Clifford Goldkind then elected to squeeze from the small blind, shoving for 132,000, and it didn't take Bazeley too much time to shove all in to isolate. Vrabel folded, and Goldkind was in a world of hurt.

Goldkind: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Bazeley: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Goldkind was far behind, but he ended up flopping the world, as it came down {5-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. He could not catch a ten or a heart to win, and while the {2-Diamonds} on the turn didn't do that, the {5-Hearts} on the river got the job done.

Bazeley takes a hit to his stack after that hand, now sitting on 680,000, while Goldkind is back up to 294,000.

Jeff Lisandro Eliminated in 17th Place ($17,657)

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Jeff Lisandro - 17th Place
Jeff Lisandro - 17th Place

Scott Clements raised it up in the cutoff, and Jeff Lisandro moved all in from the button for his last 190,000. When it got back to Clements, he made the call.

Clements: {8-}{8-}
Lisandro: {7-}{7-}

Clements had Lisandro barely one upped, which unfortunately for Lisandro fans meant that he was in a world of hurt. We didn't catch the board, but we know that Clements held, and that he now has 605,000.

James Carroll Eliminated in 18th Place ($17,657)

Nível 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
James Carroll - 17th Place
James Carroll - 17th Place

James Carroll hadn't even had a chance to unrack his chips from the redraw when he shoved all in from under the gun for his last 118,000. It folded around to Thad Smith in the big blind, and he tanked for a minute or so before calling.

Carroll: {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Smith: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Smith's small pair had Carroll's pair crushed, and the board ran clean for Smith, coming down {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. With that pot, Smith vaulted up to 300,000, while Carroll is our first player eliminated at the final three tables.
