Last year, John Monnette crushed the 2012 World Series of Poker. He cashed in five events in Las Vegas, three more in Cannes, and won his second career WSOP gold bracelet. His first WSOP win came in 2011.
Along with his big win in Event #10: $5,000 Seven Card Stud, Monette finished runner-up in Event #32: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship and third in Event #15: $5,000 Seven Card Stud Eight-or-Better. Despite these insane results, Monnette finished third in the Player-of-the-Year race due to the performances of Phil Hellmuth and Greg Merson.
Monnette is in the field this evening, and is no doubt looking to replicate the success he had in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, he finished 26th in this very event, taking home $6,096.
