Maag on the Move

Nicco Maag
Nicco Maag

Nicco Maag arrived a little late today, but once he got here he continued to add to his stack gradually through the first two levels. He just grabbed an extra chunk of chips here at the start of Level 27 to push up close to the 8 million-chip mark and into the chip lead.

After Danny Wong opened from middle position, Magg called from a seat over, and Robert Corcione called from the big blind, the pot was about 400,000 when the flop came {Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Corcione checked, Wong made a continuation bet, and both of his opponents called. By then the pot size was about 1 million.

The turn brought the {5-Diamonds}. Corcione checked, and Wong fired a bet of 700,000. Maag then raised to 2 million even. After some thought, Corcione pushed his hand away, and eventually Wong did as well.

Paur Leads on Break

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The players are now on their second 20-minute break of the day. If you missed any of the action, here are some highlights:

Haerig Flops Set

Wilfried Haerig and Eric Legoff were heads up with the board reading {3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Haerig led out for 500,000, and Legoff called.

The {10-Hearts} completed the board, and Haerig led for 1.3 million. Legoff called.

Haerig tabled {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for a set of sevens, and Legoff showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} before mucking.

Baumann's Ladies

Omar Saeed made it 110,000 to go from middle position and was called by Gaelle Baumann from the cutoff. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Saeed bet 110,000. Baumann called and the turn was the {2-Spades}. Saeed slowed down this time allowing Baumann to bet 220,000. Saeed called and checked again on the {7-Spades} river. Baumann bet 460,000 and after two minutes of tanking, Saeed called.

Baumann rolled over {Q-}{Q-} and Saeed mucked his hand. This hand drops Saeed's stack to 1,780,000.

Maag's Full House Better Than Makhija's

From under the gun, Amit Makhija raised to 100,000. Action then folded all the way over to Nicco Maag in the big blind and he min-reraised to 150,000. Makhija reraised to 400,000 and Maag called.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Maag checked. Makhija bet 450,000 and Maag made the call.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and Maag checked. Makhija bet 675,000 and Maag tank-called after a few long minutes of thought.

The river was the {6-Clubs} and both players checked.

Makhija turned over the {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, but that was no good against the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for Maag. Maag won the pot and pushed over six million in chips.
