Donny Dented, Then Dusted

A middle position player raised to 1,600, Donny Mizrachi reraised to 4,075, and when it folded back around the original raiser pushed all in for 5,850 total and Mizrachi quickly called.

Mizrachi turned over {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and his opponent {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and when the five community cards came {8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{A-Hearts}, Mizrachi's opponent survived with a set of eights.

That hand knocked Mizrachi down to just over 20,000, and it wasn't long after he'd commit the last of his stack and be eliminated.

Less is Moreno

Andrew Moreno opened to 1,100 from the hijack seat, Idan Greenberg three-bet to 3,025 from the big blind, and Moreno made the call. The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and Greenberg led out for 4,275. Moreno called.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}, and Greenberg moved all in for effectively 21,000. Moreno released, and Greenberg picked up the pot.

Doyle Doesn't Have The Straight

Action folded around to the small blind who raised to 1,450. Doyle Brunson, not one to be bullied, made the call from the big blind blind.

The flop fell {3-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{3-Spades} and Brunson's opponent checked. Brunson fired out 1,500 and received a call. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and it was checked to Brunson once again. Texas Dolly fired out 4,000 and was called once again. The board completed with the {9-Hearts} and it was checked to Brunson one last time. Brunson opted for a bigger bet on this street, making it 15,000 to go.

Brunson's opponent thought over his action for about a minute.

"I have a feeling you hit a straight," Brunson's opponent said. Eventually, however, a call was made. Brunson, in fact, did not have the straight. Instead, Brunson had trips with {5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and defeated his opponent's {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

The Godfather of poker is currently flirting with one hundred thousand in chips. He's sitting on about 95,000.

Racener Out-Raced

Steven Simpson opened to 1,200 from under the gun, John Racener called, in the cutoff, Thomas Saxon called in the small blind, and Richard Powell three-bet to 5,500 from the big blind. Simpson called, Racener moved all in, and the action folded back to Simpson, who tank-called for 25,525.

Simpson{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and Simpson doubled. Racener dropped to 24,000.

Another Small One for Hinkle

When we arrived over at Table 69, Jason Mercier, Blair Hinkle and one other opponent were taking part in a hand that saw a {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} board spread out on the felt. At this point there was around 5,000 in the pot.

All three players checked here on the turn and the dealer turned over a {9-Spades} on the river. Another check from all three players would see Hinkle turn over {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, which was enough to send Mercier's cards, and the other player's, into the muck.

Jetten Jets Out Of Here

We didn't catch all the details on the hand, but we know that Peter Jetten has been eliminated as he was on the wrong side of the classic preflop cooler. Jetten got the rest of his chips in with {k-}{k-} but ran into his opponent's {a-}{a-}. The board brought no help, rolling out {6-}{9-}{j-}{8-}{9-}. That hand puts an end to Jetten's summer out here at the Rio.

Zimmerman Knocks Out Two

Two more players have hit the rail here in Level 6, thanks to Brent Zimmerman.

After an early position player shoved for 8,850, Lisa Costello reraised all in over the top for 21,175 from a seat over, and when it folded back to Zimmerman in the blinds he called. Zimmerman had {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}, Costello {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, and the short-stacked player {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades} to give Zimmerman the set, and the {8-Spades} turn and {4-Hearts} river opened up two seats at Table 431.

Clements Coolered

Action folded to the player in the cutoff who opened to 1,200. Scott Clements three-bet to 2,700 on the button and was called by both the player in the big blind and the original raiser.

The {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop was checked around, landing the {A-Clubs} on the turn. Two checks to Clements led to a bet of 3,200, but the player in the big blind put in a check-raise to 11,000. The player in the cutoff folded, Clements re-raised all in, and the player in the big blind called all in for about 35,000 with {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

Clements was behind with {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and was not helped by the {8-Hearts} river. He is down to less than 4,000 now.

Shorr's Squeeze Gets 'er Done

Randy "Nanonoko" Lew opened to 1,200 from early position and was called by a player in middle position and another in the hijack seat. Action then folded around to Shannon Shorr in the small blind, who thought for a bit and then raised to 6,000. Randy Lew asked for a count of Shorr's remaining stack and then folded after some thought. The other two followed suit and Shorr scooped the pot.

Shorr, who recently placed third in Event 57: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em chipped up to 70,000, while Lew slipped to 61,000.
