One of the two multi-flight events of the nine-event series was the $300 Deepstack. On Wednesday, the two flights kicked off and collected a total of 199 entrants into the tournament to create a prizepool of $47,760.
Only 26 players saw any piece of that prize pool and a variety of names familiar to the Rungood circuit battled to get a piece. Players like Andrew Fredericks (21st-$575), Julie Cornelius (17th-$718), Billy Casey (9th-$1,125), and Joseph Mussat (4th-$2,980) all fell short of the title that they all wanted.
It became a heads up match between Matthew Betti and Michael Johns, both very decorated players in their own right. Betti held a slight lead over the Johns for some of the heads up match, but the tournament defining hand came when Johns flopped a set of eights and Betti held a gutshot straight flush draw. Both players got all of their chips in and the set of eights held for Johns to take a massive lead. After that, Johns continued to dominate and Betti ended his run in second place, good for $8,155.
It was just a few weeks ago that Michael Johns had won his second RGPS ring in Tunica, and he continues to make his mark on the RGPS circuit with this newest title. All of his rings have been in Deepstacks and he is putting some distance between himself and others on this years RGPS player of the year. He won 115 points on the NAPT golden player of the series leaderboard but given that he had already won his pass in Tunica, he cannot win a second pass. The NAPT race remains quite competitive and exciting here at Reno.

Action was picked up on the river in a massive pot between Conrad Simpson and Arturo Ricabal.
With a sizable pot already built and a board reading 4♦4♥8♣3♥10♦, Simpson moved all in for 55,500 which sent Ricabal into the tank. After some time he sighed and put in the chips to call.
Conrad Simpson: A♠4♣
Arturo Ricabal: 10♥5♥
The river had paired up Ricabal's ten but Simpson's three fours were good for the pot as he took a massive pot off of Ricabal.

Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 18th episode, Connor speaks with author and psychologist Maria Konnikova about her family leaving Russia to come to the US, writing her first story in kindergarten, being mentored by Steven Pinker at Harvard, meeting Erik Seidel for the first time and her 2020 bestseller The Biggest Bluff that explored her poker journey.
Konnikova, a PokerStars ambassador, also talked about her research for an upcoming book into cheating in poker and other games, as well as game integrity rule changes implemented at EPT Barcelona that Konnikova said needed to go even further.
"I think what PokerStars has done is amazing. I think you need to go a step further and not have any electronics anywhere on the table," said Konnikova. "Like, I think phones need to be on the floor, in your bag."
"I would actually also ban sunglasses because ... there's so much technology that (that can enable cheating)."
Action was picked up on the turn in a pot between three players including one player in the big blind, Conrad Simpson in middle position and Arturo Ricabal in late position.
The board read J♠5♣10♦9♣ and action checked around to Simpson who bet 7,000 into a pot worth 8,400, which both Ricabal and the big blind called.
On the river 4♥, action checked around to Ricabal who bet 12,500 which folded the big blind out quickly and sent Simpson into the tank. After some thought he said "I call," and then mucked when Ricabal tabled Q♥10♥.
