The Bubble Is Set to Burst on Day 2 of the $10,300 WCOOP Main Event

2023 WCOOP
2023 WCOOP

Day 2 of the 2023 $10,300 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event is set to kick off 12:35 p.m. Eastern Time on PokerStars, and it promises to be an action-packed day where the bubble is guaranteed to burst. At the time of writing, the $6,000,000 guaranteed prize pool has not been met yet, however, late registration is still open until five minutes before the start of play and many contenders are expected to make use of that option with the looming overlay.

On Day 1, 511 entries were made and only 176 of them found a way to Day 2. Brazil’s "BRzRoll" bagged the chip lead and was the only player that bagged more than two million chips. Starting the day with 2,379,612 chips, close to ten starting stacks, at their disposal, they will have close to 200 big blinds to play with. Others that bagged big include Tom "7tHEcROw7" MacDonald (1,927,103) and one of online poker’s most legendary MTT players Niklas "Lena900" Astedt (1,731,822).

Many of online poker’s most prolific players have already decided to buy in at the start of Day 2 with a fresh starting stack of 250,000 chips, just over 20 big blinds. Among the 40 people so far who are making their first, second, third, or even fourth appearance in the WCOOP Main Event at the start of today include Aleksejs "APonakov" Ponakovs, Kelvin "Kelvin_FP:AR" Kerber, Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis, Daniel "SmilleThHero" Smiljkovic, Ognyan "cocojamb0" Dimov, Thomas "WushuTM" Muehloecker, and Patrick "pads1161" Leonard, with many more of their peers expected to follow suit in the time between this publication and the start of the tournament.

As stated, the tournament will recommence at 12:35 p.m. Eastern Time. The blinds will start at 6,000/12,000 with an ante of 1,500, and Day 2 will last for as many 30-minute levels as it takes to whittle the field down from over 200 people to the final 40, at which point the tournament is well into the money and play will pause.

Stay tuned as PokerNews will provide all of the exciting action on the bubble-bursting Day 2 of WCOOP 98-H: $10,300 No Limit Hold’em [World Championship of NLHE / Main Event], as well as the PLO Main Event, which also has a price point of $10,300.

"Revenge892" was one of the many late entries today and opened to 24,000 from the cutoff. Christian "eisenhower1" Jeppsson sat in the small blind and put out a three-bet to 78,000 before the action folded back to "Revenge892", who put in their stack of 231,400.

Jeppsson made the call and was delivered the bad news.

"Revenge892": QQ
Christian "eisenhower1" Jeppsson: 77

However, the A7K flop saw Jeppsson turn his dominated hand into the dominating one, flopping a set to jump into the lead. No queen saved "Revenge892" on the 4A runout and he was one of the many eliminations in the early minutes of Day 2.

Ferreira's Farewell

Nível 16 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira raised to 24,438 from under the gun and the action folded to Alexandre "aminolast" Raymond in the big blind. He then shoved all in, covering Ferreira's 164,832 chips.

Ferreira made the call and the cards went face-up.

Rui "RuiNF" Ferreira: AQ
Alexandre "aminolast" Raymond: AK

Some chop outs appeared on the 336 flop, but Raymond's king kicker would remain in play on the A10 runout, sending Ferreira to focus on his other tournaments for the day.

Chew Doubles in Flip

Nível 16 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Bruno "great dant" Volkmann raised to 24,000 from early position and "lildani9" three-bet to 90,000 from the next seat over. Stevan "random_chu" Chew sat in the hijack and saw an opportunity to get his 183,860 stack in the middle, which he did.

Volkmann folded and "lildani9" made the call with the covering stack.

Stevan "random_chu" Chew: 1010
"lildani9": KJ

Chew's tens held on the 965QA runout and he secured a double-up, now being a fair few chips above the 250,000 stack he bought in with at the start of the day.
