The penultimate day of the 2023 $10,300 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event is set to kick off at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Out of a total of 600 entries, only 38 players still find themselves with chips on the virtual tables when they log in to their PokerStars account today. They have all secured a payout of $32,632 already, but all eyes will be on the $1,047,257 that comes with capturing the title of World Champion. However, many of them will have to settle for lesser portions of the $6,000,000 prize pool, as the tournament will play down to a final table of nine players on Day 3 first.

Still among those in contention is PokerStars Ambassador Sam "SamSquid" Grafton. The talkative Brit is sitting in 25th place on the leaderboard, with 2,721,816 in chips. Despite finding himself in the lower regions of the leaderboard, the deep structure of the WCOOP Main Event means that he still has over 30 big blinds to play with when the tournament recommences today.
However, his stack dwarfs in comparison to the overwhelming chipleader Ivan "ILS007" Stokes. Grafton’s fellow countryman amassed a gargantuan stack of 16,606,251 chips on Day 2, nearly twice that of second place, Swedish online legend Niklas "Lena900" Astedt, who sits down with 9,996,387 at the start of Day 3. The top-three is completed by Jamil "Jamil11" Wakil (9,799,062), while notable names like "ShipitFTW911" (6,761,987) and Kayhan "KayhanMok" Mokri (6,431,244) also find themselves with a comfortable top-ten stack.

As one can expect from a WCOOP Main Event, the rest of the field is not filled with slouches either. Leonard "Grozzorg" Maue (3,981,436), Kelvin "Kelvin_FP:AR" Kerber (2,829,571), Daniel "Oxata" Dvoress (2,816,829), Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro (2,760,132), and Andras "probirs" Nemeth (2,232,651) will all sit down at the start of Day 3 as well, trying to maneuver their way onto the final table of nine.
Day 3 will start at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time, and the field will play as many 30-minute levels, starting from 40,000/80,000 with an ante of 10,000, necessary to whittle the 38 players down to one final table of nine. At that point, they will all have secured $94,330 and will continue playing on Day 4, on October 4th.
PokerNews will provide a live report from the start of the day until the very end, as well as for the $10,300 PLO Main Event, which plays down to a winner today. So stay tuned to both pages to not miss any of the biggest online poker action of the year.

The first hands are being dealt across the five tables remaining as Day 3 of the WCOOP Main Event has officially begun.
"ShipitFTW911" raised to 168,000 from the button and faced a three-bet to 560,000 from small blind"robinsex". "ShipitFTW911" paid the extra chips and the two saw a flop of 7♣2♠2♣. "robinsex" put out a bet of 422,440 and "ShipitFTW911" raised to 928,000.
"robinsex" then three-bet all in for 2,764,960 and "ShipitFTW911" quickly called.
"robinsex": Q♠Q♥
"ShipitFTW911": A♣10♣
"ShipitFTW911"s flush draw would miss, but the K♦A♦ runout rivered him a pair of aces instead, beating the pair of queens from "robinsex", who consequently would fall in 38th place as the first elimination of the day.

Andras "probirs" Nemeth started with a raise to 175,200 from the hijack before Aliaksei "ale6ka" Boika three-bet shipped his 1,393,584 stack in from the small blind. Big blind "krokdil.by" then rejammed for just a little more and Nemeth got out of the way, showing the A♣ as he folded.
Aliaksei "ale6ka" Boika: K♥Q♥
"krokodil.by": A♥J♥
Both players made two pair on the 4♠4♦10♣10♠6♠ board, but "krokodil.by"s ace kicker would give him the best hand. He doubled up while Boika was forced to exit the tournament.
Almost simultaneously, Gavin "gavz101" Cochrane busted on another table to leave the field with 35 players.

Thorsten "juicetus" Legit was the absolute short stack of the field and he got his last 616,668 chips in the middle from the cutoff. The action then folded to "I Can Dewey It" in the big blind, who made the call.
Thorsten "juicetus" Legit: A♠A♥
"I Can Dewey It": A♣5♣
Legit had a tremendous lead with his pocket aces, and the K♥8♠4♠ flop saw his opponent with only a three percent chance to win the pot.
The 5♠ brought a little sweat as "I Can Dewey It" paired up, and the detrimental 5♦ river saw them make trips and crack the rockets of Legit. He took a sour exit in 35th place while his opponent received a nice chip-up.

The first minutes of Day 3 have provided plenty of action thus far, and in the latest example, it was Darrell "FourSixFour" Goh who started it off with a raise to 180,000 from middle position.
The action then folded to "SerVlaMin" in the small blind, and they jammed all in for 2,149,544 chips. When the action got back to Goh, he made the call.
"SerVlaMin": A♣J♠
Darrell "FourSixFour" Goh: A♠K♥
Goh immediately paired his king on the K♣7♦6♦ flop, and "ServlaMin" failed to pull off a miracle on the 5♥ turn, leaving him with no chance to win the pot. The K♦ river upgraded Goh to trips and "SerVlaMin" took their exit.
On another table, "ContraSpemSper0" was eliminated in 33rd place, meaning that the final 32 players have taken their seats on the last four tables of the tournament.
