HK$206,000 Single-Day High Roller I
Dia 1 Iniciado
Welcome back poker fans, to the PokerStars Championship Macau here at the luxurious City of Dreams resort. While the HK$400,000 Super High Roller may have wrapped up yesterday that does not conclude the high stakes action on offer here in Macau this week.
The HK$206,000 (~US$26,500) Single Re-Entry Shot Clock will be getting underway at 12pm local time (GMT+7) and if the numbers in the Super High Roller are anything to go by then we could well be in for a busy day. Day 1B of the PSC Main Event will also be starting at 6pm local time.
With several of the high rollers in attendance at PokerStars Championship Macau playing Day 1A of the HK$42,400 Main Event on Monday 3 April so they have a window in their schedule today, we are anticipating some decent numbers here.
High stakes regulars Sergio Aido, David Peters, Nick Petrangelo, Isaac Haxton, Sam Greenwood, Ali Reza Fatehi and Nariman Yaghmai all played yesterday and are some of the likely candidates we expect to see at the baize today.
Steve O’Dwyer will also be looking to bag himself the three-peat after emerging victorious at the PokerStars Championship Panama US$10,000 Single-Day High Roller, following that up with a victory in the PokerStars Championship Macau HK$400,000 Super High Roller.
Following the same format as the HK$400,000 Super High Roller – which attracted an impressive 88 unique entries – the tournament will feature a 30-second shot clock which activates 5-seconds into every hand.
Once this runs down players have three (30-second) time extension chips that come into play automatically once the initial 30-second clock has expired. If a player has no more time bank chips and is first to act in the hand and there has been no action then they are counted as checking automatically. If there has been action and the player has no more time bank chips once the 30-seconds Shot Clock has counted down then their hand is declared dead – unless of course, they have already acted.
Players start with 100,000 stacks and have 30-minute levels in which to use them and you can follow all the action as it happens exclusively on PokerNews so stay tuned as we bring you all the action as it happens.
Action will be starting in the next five minutes. Nick Petrangelo is already registered and has his chips and Ali Reza Fatehi and Timothy Adams have just entered the poker room.

As usual, High Roller tournaments tend to start slightly later as scheduled, feature a few players at the start and then fill up quickly. Below are the first players that already entered the competition right at the start.

Artem Metalidi, Mikita Badziakouski and Yu Liang all entered very early into level one and the latter started well by taking a pot off Yang Wang. Wang raised to 2,300 from under the gun and Liang asked floor staff how many big blinds everyone starts with, then three-bet to 7,300. Only Wang called and checked the flop of . Liang continued for 7,000 and was called before the turn went check, check.
Wang then checked the river and Liang scooped the pot uncontested with a bet worth 15,000.

Cards are in the air and we already have some exciting action. Over on the feature table Iran’s Ali Reza Fatehi opened the action with a raise to 2,200 from middle position and action folded around to Zhao Hongjun in the big blind.
The Chinese player announces raise and pitches in a yellow 5k chip to join the blue 1k chip he already has out on the felt representing his big blind for a bet of 6,000 in total and Fatehi quickly calls.
Hongjun checked the flop over to Fatehi, who takes a stab for 2,500 only to see the Chinese player check-raise to 6,000 in total. That does not deter Fatehi however, and he makes the call to keep action heads up to the turn.
Hongjun now chose to lead out for 13,000 and Fatehi calls fairly swiftly once more and the dealer rolls over the river. This brings an immediate 25,000 bet from Hongjun and Fatehi thinks it over briefly before tossing in the call. Hongjun turns over for a flopped set and Fatehi mucks instantly.

Among those to take their seat soon after were also Vladimir Troyanovskiy and En Ning Chen. They were involved in a small pot with Troyanovskiy as initial raiser from the cutoff and Chen in the big blind. There was barely any action, as the turn and river of a board was checked down and Chen won the pot with .

Zhao Hungjun opened the action with a raise to 2,200 from middle position before Ali Reza Fatehi re-popped it to 8,000 from the small blind.
Big blind Daniel Dvoress made a quick call, as did Hongjun to take the action three-way to a flop of , which brings a bet of 6,000 from Fatehi, a call from Dvoress and a fold from Hongjun.
Heads-up on the turn, the dealer peels off the , which brings a second barrel from Fatehi, this one a slightly larger 11,500 and Dvoress made the call once more.
The river brings four to a flush and checks from both players. Fatehi turned over and looked fairlt nonplussed when Dvoress rolled over his to take the pot.
