Welcome to Day 1 of PokerStars Championship Barcelona €10,300 High Roller

PokerStars Championship Barcelona is ready to start winding down soon after over a week of exciting poker, but before the tents can be folded up, there's one last big event to play out: €10,300 High Roller.

That event starts today, with cards scheduled to fly at 12:30 p.m. local time in Casino Barcelona.

Last year under the EPT banner, Connor Drinan emerged as champion over a field of 591 entries, conquering the likes of Patrick Leonard, Ari Engel, Joseph Cheong and Oleksii Khoroshenin, all of whom made the final table. Drinan claimed a massive €849,200 first-place prize, and a similarly monstrous turnout and prize pool is expected again this year.

Before the tournament can reach that point this year, the minutiae of Day 1 must take place. That means 10 levels, each lasting one hour. Players get 50,000 in starting chips at miniscule blinds of just 100/200/25 to start, working their way to 800/1,600/200. Should something go awry — a sick cooler, a bluff gone wrong, or an unfortunate river card — players do get one mulligan in this one, having the option to reenter once.
