Top Ten Counts Around the Room

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Daniel Colman
Daniel Colman

On the outer tables, action has been fast and furious. Here are the top chip counts, with a very familiar face now clear at the top.

Latz Isn't Messina-round

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Hendrik Latz raised to 8,000 from under the gun and Valentin Messina decided to come along, calling on the button.

The flop came {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Latz checked, and Messina opted to check back.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}. Latz wasted no time and led out for 24,000. Messina thought about it for a moment and decided to call.

The river was the {j-Diamonds}. Latz stared at the board for about a minute before he reached into his stack and led out for 68,000.

Messina went deep into the tank, looking back at his cards several times. After a couple of minutes he released his hand, sending the chips Latz's way.

Jaime Staples Chipping Up

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jaime Staples
Jaime Staples

Jaime Staples raised to 8,500 from the button and Valentin Messina defended from the big blind, which brought about a {q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop.

After both players checked, the dealer burned and turned the {J-Clubs}. Messina led out for 12,000, Staples called, and the {2-Spades} completed the board on the river.

Messina bet again, this time 32,000, and Staples thought for the better part of a minute before calling with the {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a pair of jacks. It was good as Messina had missed an open-ended straight draw with the {k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

Greenstein Crushing

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

PokerStars Team Pro Barry Greenstein is off to quite the start on Day 3, having run 95,000 up past 400,000.

He just took down one pot with a river raise after an opponent bet 42,000 into him from the big blind on a board of {8-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Greenstein made it 120,000 to go from the button and his opponent tanked a couple of minutes and mucked.

Wittams-Smith Doubles Through Medic

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Benjamin Wittams-Smith was all in when we got to his table. He was down to just 27,500 in the small blind and was at risk with {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} against Nenad Medic, who had {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} in the cutoff. Medic missed as the board ran out {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and he's rather short now.

River Saves Smit Trivedi

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Hendrik Latz raised to 9,000 from the button and was met by a three-bet to 28,000 from Smit Trivedi in the big blind. Latz responded by moving all in and Trivedi wasted little time in calling off for 142,000 total.

Trivedi: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Latz: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Trivedi was way out in front, but not after the {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} flop paired Latz. The {4-Clubs} turn saw Trivedi get out of his seat, but he got to sit back down when the {K-Hearts} spiked on the river to save his tournament life!

Cliff Josephy Scores a Huge Double

From middle position, Rex Clinkscales opened for 9,000. Aleksei Opalikhin over in the cutoff three-bet to 21,500 and his neighbor November Niner Cliff Josephy cold four-bet to 51,500 from the button.

Both blinds folded and action was back on Clinkscales. He asked how much it was to which Josephy replied "Take your sunglasses off and you can see."

Clinkscales folded but Opalikhin called.

The flop came {K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Opalikhin lead for 64,000. As the {8-Hearts} hit the turn, Opalikhin shoved. Josephy instantly called for 161,000 total.

Cliff Josephy: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Aleksei Opalikhin: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

"Ow I'm in good shape!" Josephy said.

The meaningless {A-Hearts} hit the river and Josephy scored the full double.

Harder and Magnus Chop IT Up

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Christian Harder and Nadezhda Magnus got it all-in for two very big stacks of over 300,000 on a full board of {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. Incredibly, both players had the same hand, with Harder turning over {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Magnus showing {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

"That's incredible." said a tablemate. Both winning players agreed, but neither looked too happy to chop.

Marsh Marches Home

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The Main Event has come to an end for PokerStars online qualifier, Bradley Marsh.

Marsh got his remaining 80,000 in the middle with {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} but to his disappointment he ran into Benjamin Philipps' {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} on the button.

The board ran out {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Philipps locked up the pot on the turn with a flush, sending Marsh to the rail.
