Event #3: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha
Dia 1 Concluído
It's been quite the start for Brandon Adams at the 2018 Poker Masters.
First, Adams rolled into the final table of Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em with the chip lead before ultimately finishing a disappointing fourth for $69,000. No matter, as Adams made up for it in Event #2: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em, finishing the job this time for a $400,000 payout.
Now, Adams finds himself once again heading into a final table after the close of Day 1 of Event #3: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha at the PokerGO studio outside of ARIA Resort & Casino.
Poker Masters Event #3 Final Table
Seat | Player | Country | Chip Count |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Dan Shak | United States | 781,000 |
2 | Ben Yu | United States | 832,000 |
3 | Jonathan Depa | United States | 1,413,000 |
4 | Brandon Adams | United States | 1,138,000 |
5 | Keith Lehr | United States | 712,000 |
6 | Isaac Haxton | United States | 675,000 |
Coincidentally, the six listed players are also the six players who made the money, as the bubble burst with the final elimination of the night. After short stacks Justin Bonomo and Joshua Ladines went down just shy of the final table, the last seven gathered to see who would bubble out and who would advance to the streamed final table on Monday on PokerGO.
David Peters was the odds-on favorite as by favorite the shortest stack with just 100,000 at 6,000/12,000/12,000, and he got about half of his money in preflop with a middling hand containing pocket jacks. Unfortunately for Peters, Adams had outflopped him by pairing an ace in his hand after defending big blind, and Peters had little choice but to shove the flop in hopes he was still good.
When the Event #1 champ didn't improve on the turn and river, he went bust just shy of adding money to his bankroll and points to his second-place standing in the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket.
Instead, Adams will add even more to his leading point total, and he's undoubtedly the star of the show so far at Poker Masters.
The PLO event had a bit of a different feel compared to the first two events as some specialists who didn't participate in the hold'em tournaments showed up. One such player was Jonathan Depa, who sports a full two-thirds of live cashes in some form of Omaha. Depa put those skills to use in the WSOP this summer with five Omaha cashes and he's locked up another here at Poker Masters, with his chip lead giving him a great shot at the $333,000 first-place prize.
However sharp Depa's PLO skills, he did have to get mighty lucky to get his chip lead in the first place, as he busted Ladines in a set-over-set one-outer wherein Depa turned quad nines all in on the flop against Ladines' kings.
There was no stopping Depa after that, and his 1.4 million gives him over 100 big blinds as 16 minutes still remain at 6,000/12,000/12,000. Final table play will be quite deep to start off as everyone is north of 50 big blinds, with Isaac Haxton's 675,000 being the shortest stack. That should provide a great viewing experience for four-card aficionados who tune into the stream on PokerGO starting at 1 p.m. local time.
Everyone else grinding the Poker Masters schedule gets a real treat on Monday at 2 p.m. with Event #4: $10,000 Short Deck. Come to PokerNews then to see what transpires in poker's hottest new game.
