Event #4 of the Poker Masters Set to Begin

Welcome back to the ARIA Resort & Casino, and Day 4 the inaugural Poker Masters for Event #4: $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em.

Friday saw the second event of the Poker Masters conclude with German Steffen Sontheimer collect not just his second cash, but also the win to take the lead in the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket™ as the only player with over $1,000,000 in cashes ahead of Event #1 winner Nick Schulman ($918,000), Matt Hyman ($561,000), Fedor Holz ($550,000), and Stefan Schillhabel ($306,000).

Unfortunately for Sontheimer, he bubbled Event #3 in 8th place while it will be Dan Smith leading the final table after amassing a 1,982,000 chip stack. On Smith's heels include Doug Polk (1,436,000) and Jake Schindler (1,240,000) while Bryn Kenney is the only player reaching his second final table after finishing 7th in Event #2 for $125,000 meaning a win for $960,000 will put him into second place in the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket™ while a 2nd place finish will put him into third place overall.

The final $50,000 buy-in tournament of the Poker Masters is expected to attract the majority of the same players that have taken part across the first three tournaments. Some players have chosen tournaments to take off due to fatigue, but with this event being the penultimate event of the series, many players will be looking to register a cash in this one to put them in position to making a run at claiming the Poker Masters Purple Jacket™ with a great result in the $100,000 buy-in tournament that starts on Monday.

The registration and re-entry period open for the first 9 levels (approximately 7:00 p.m. PDT), it is expected that all the final table combatants will also be making an appearance. As was the case in Event #1, #2, and #3, players will begin with 125,000 in starting chips and are allowed one re-entry. Levels will last 30 minutes with a 10-minute break after every three levels with plans to play down to the final table to the end of the day.

Inspired by the Aria High Rollers, the tournament rules are designed to speed up play and are specifically catered to the regular high-stakes players, including:

  • Seven-handed tables
  • A single ante posted by the big blind
  • A 30-second shot clock, with three 60-second time extensions
  • Players may re-enter once per event through level nine (with no re-entry in the final event)
  • Headphones and sunglasses are not allowed

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be providing continuous live updates from the tournament floor once play begins at 2:00 p.m. (PDT). Our updates will coincide with the live stream, and will not include any spoilers for those watching along on PokerGO. So stay tuned right here to PokerNews.com for updates from Event #4, and all the events on the Poker Masters schedule.
