Vieira Coolered in Battle of Joao's

Nível 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Joao Vieira (in the 100k)
Joao Vieira (in the 100k)

While the rest field of the field was on break, the Joao's Barbosa and Vieira were duking it out in a substantial pot that lasted over ten minutes into the intermission. The board had ran out {6-Clubs}{K-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Barbosa had check-called bets from Vieira on the flop and turn.

On the river, Barbosa checked, Vieira bet, and Barbaso check-raised all in. Vieira, who has a lot of history with his close friend and countryman, tanked for three minutes before calling it off with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

Barbaso had a bigger house with {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and scooped up the 100k pot from his buddy to send him towards the top.

[Removed:550] Makes Big Call Against Huber

Nível 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
[Removed:532] (at the PSPC)
[Removed:532] (at the PSPC)

The board read {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and [Removed:532] checked to Stefan Huber, who bet 6,000. [Removed:550] called the bet, leaving himself with 16,100 behind.

The river brought the {4-Diamonds} and Huber ripped it in, covering [Removed:550]. The Team PokerStars Pro thought around thirty seconds before calling it off for his tournament life.

Huber, caught bluffing, showed {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for a mere king high. [Removed:550] tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for just ace-high and Huber gave a respectful nod.

No Tens Left for Martini

Nível 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Julien Martini (in the PSPC)
Julien Martini (in the PSPC)

Christopher Conrad raised to 500 in middle position and Tobias Peters just flat-called with the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Ji Zhang made it 2,000 on the button, Julien Martini cold-called from the blinds, and Conrad called as well.

All the action brought Peters in a perfect spot and he cut out a reraise to 9,300. Zhang went out of the way, but Martini shoved it in for 31,000 total. Conrad also folded and Peters snap-called.

Martini had {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Conrad quipped: "I folded tens," which drew chuckles from the table as both of Martini's suits were covered as well.

It was an arduous spot for the PSPC runner-up and he didn't catch the needed miracle straight to bust his first attempt.

Roy Jams Into Rheem

Nível 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Jonathan Roy
Jonathan Roy

Jonathan Roy faced a raise to 300 and three-bet to 1,200 in middle position, which Connor Drinan on the button and Chino Rheem in the big blind called, the initial raiser also came along. On the {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop the action checked to Roy and he bet 1,500 and Rheem was the only caller.

After the {7-Hearts} turn, Rheem checked once more and called a second barrel for 5,200 to see the {J-Clubs} on the river. Rheem checked and Roy jammed for 21,500. Rheem tried to get some reaction via table talk, but would get none as Roy had his Bose headphones on. Rheem folded and Roy then took his headphones off.

"Sorry, I couldn't hear you. I know you were talking," Roy said. Rheem asked him again if he was bluffing and Roy just grinned.

"I know you had a diamond," Rheem added before the next hand was dealt.

Picking up the action on the {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} turn, Leslie Indoe bet 1,200 out of the big blind and Luiz Duarte on the button raised to 4,000, which Indoe called. The {A-Diamonds} river was checked by Indoe and Duarte made it 12,000 to go.

Day 1b of the 2019 PCA Main Event Kicks Off at Noon

Sunrise on Atlantis
Sunrise on Atlantis

The Imperial Ballroom at the Atlantis Resort & Casino on The Bahamas will once again be filled with poker enthusiasts from near and far, all aiming to become the next EPT Main Event champion. The second starting day of the 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) $10,300 Main Event on Paradise Island will get underway at noon local time and the event is off to a great start thanks to 356 entries on Day 1a, which doubled the number of entries from the previous year.

In 2018, Maria Lampropulos defeated a 582-entry strong field to lift the trophy and claim a seven-figure payday after defeating Shawn Buchanan in heads-up. Lampropulos has already taken part in other events during the festival and is expected to take a seat to try and defend her title.

Other previous PCA champions already took a shot in yesterday's first flight, but only Dimitar Danchev made it through to Day 2 thus far, while Harrison Gimbel busted twice and won't be allowed to re-enter anymore. Leading the field after Day 1a is Russia's Alexander Kharkov with massive 350,500, more than 11 times the starting stack.
