The day started out with around 50 players taking their seats inside the ballroom of the Atlantis hotel. That number quickly grew as players continued to enter and re-enter. Everyone was allowed a single re-entry, some of which took full advantage of. When late registration was closed after the dinner break, a total of 290 entries were tallied.

That made up a prizepool of $421,950 which would be distributed throughout the final 39 players. A min-cash will be worth $2,900 but everyone will be in search of the first-place prize of $84,600. Along with the title, the winner will also receive a Platinum Pass into the 2019 PSPC $25,000 event held next January.

There were also plenty of familiar faces that found a bag including Harrison Gimbel (189,000), Rex Clinkscales (179,000), Chris Moorman (120,100), Ryan Smith (103,600), PokerStars Team Pro Maria Konnikova (83,500), and Ari Engel (79,800).

The action will resume at 12:00 P.M. local time on Monday. The schedule is set to play another 11 levels, which will continue at 60-minutes in length. There will be a 20-minute break after every two levels and an 80-minute dinner break after the sixth level of the day. The blinds will resume at 1,000/2,000 with a running ante of 300. A winner will be crowned on Day 3 of the tournament, slated to take place on Tuesday.

Nemtcov Soars to the Chip Lead; Three Hands Remain

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With just three hands remaining in the evening, Aleksandr Nemtcov has moved into the chip lead after taking down a couple monster pots. With already stacks of chips in front of him, Nemtcov got involved in a big pot with Sylvain Loosli.

The board read {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades} with around 35,000 in the middle already. Loosli checked to Nemtcov who made an overbet of 50,000. Loosli tanked for a couple moments before finally tossing his cards away. Nemtcov tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a straight and Loosli announced that he flopped top set.

Rinaldi and Engel Get Into a Raising War on the River

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The action folded around to Steven Rinaldi on the button who raised to 3,600. Ari Engel defended his big blind and the flop came {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Engel checked to Rinaldi who continued for 3,000 and Engel called.

The turn brought the {a-Hearts} and both players checked to the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Engel checked again and Rinaldi fired out a bet of 7,000. Engel put in a small check-raise to 18,500, only to have Rinaldi re-raise to 42,000.

Engel looked back at his cards and went into the tank for a couple of minutes. Playing with his chips while he thought over a tough decision, Engel eventually rolled his chips into the pot. Rinaldi inevitably tabled {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a straight and Engel's cards went to the muck.

Greenstein Hits the Rail Late on Day 1

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

James Stewart opened from the cutoff and Barry Greenstein pushed all in for his last 29,000 out of the big blind. Stewart quickly called and the cards were tabled. It was a classic race situation with Stewart holding pocket queens and Greenstein having the ace-king.

The flop brought a king, giving Greenstein some hope of staying alive, but it was quickly followed by a queen. Stewart's set of queens held on to eliminate Greenstein in the last level of Day 1.

Last Break of the Night

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The remaining 76 players are taking their last 15-minute break of the night. There is still one more level left to play, at which point players will begin to bag and tag to return tomorrow for Day 2 action.

Lindsay on a Rollercoaster Ride

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After losing the chip lead and scattering chips throughout the table, Lindsay got back on track in a hurry. She opened to 2,800 from early position and was called by the hijack along with the Sharman Olshan in the big blind.

The flop came {6-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} and Olshan checked to Lindsay who continued for 3,500. Her opponent in the middle position raised to 9,500 and Olshan folded. Lindsay eyed up her opponent's stack of around 60,000 and then announced all in. Her opponent thought for a brief moment and then elected to fold.
