Sam Greenwood Leads the Final 12 in the partypoker MILLIONS Main Event

The action has come to an end on Day 4 of the $5,300 MILLIONS Main Event at the 2017 Caribbean Poker Party Festival. Canadian poker pro, Sam Greenwood will lead the final 12 players into the fifth and final day with a commanding chip lead of 193,900,000.

Greenwood played a monster pot on the last hand of the night against previous chip leader, Preben Stokkan. He made the nut flush on the turn with {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and the board reading {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Greenwood was all in for 64.5 million on the river and Stokkan paid him off, setting Greenwood up for another final table.

This is the third event Greenwood has played here at the Melia Caribe Tropical resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and it's setting up to be his third final table. Greenwood finished third place in the $10,300 High Roller event for $124,100 and improved with a second-place finish in the $25,500 Super High Roller for $242,750. Improving one more spot is Greenwood's only goal, as he could cap off an excellent series with a $1,000,000 payday.

Following in Greenwood's footsteps is Jonas Gjelstad (117,700,000) from Norway who found himself all in with his tournament life on the line holding ace-king against Damian Lomza's pocket kings. Gjelstad not only hit one, but two aces to score a massive double up and sit in second place. It won't all be smooth sailing for the chip leaders though, as Stokkan (99,000,000) and partypoker's Jason Koon (93,800,000) are sitting within striking distance and will be looking to close the gap when the day begins.

Today started with 43 players returning to the felt and it was Michael Zhang holding the chip lead. Unfortunately for him, nothing could go his way and he quickly spiralled out of contention, finishing in 23rd place for $34,000. Other notables that hit the rail throughout the day include Charlie Godwin (19th place - $34,000), partypoker Chairman, Mike Sexton (24th place - $34,000), Maria Ho (25th place - $34,000), and Ismael Bojang (39th place - $27,500).

The final ten players will reconvene inside the convention centre tomorrow at 12:00 P.M. local time. They will play down to the final table of eight, which will restart around 4:00 P.M. The final table will be live-streamed with a 30-minute delay and the PokerNews coverage will coincide with the stream. The blinds will continue at 1,200,000/2,400,000 with a button ante of 2,400,000 and the levels will be increased to 90-minutes in length.

After Pavel Gonchakov lost a big flip with {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} versus Sam Greenwood's {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, he found himself with just 3,000,000 chips. They all went in the very next hand with {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} but, unfortunately for Gonchakov, he ran into Andrey Shatilov with {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

The {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} runout offered no salvation, with Gonchakov leaving the feature table to collect his 13th place prize money.

Malm Doubles in the Last Three Hands of the Night

Nível 29 : 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante
Michael Malm
Michael Malm

The action folded to Michael Malm on the button who pushed all in for 10.2 million. Jonas Gjelstad promised the hand before, that he would call with any two cards. And indeed he did.

Michael Malm: {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Jonas Gjelstad: {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

The flop came {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{5-Spades} and Malm was way out front with a pair of kings. The {10-Hearts} landed on the turn and the {3-Hearts} completed the board, giving Malm a full double up.

The tournament director has announced that there will be just three hands remaining and the players will return tomorrow for their final day of action.

After action folded around to Josafat Cruz in the hijack, he moved all in for his last 21,000,000, and was called by Jiri Horak on the button. Both blinds folded and the cards were on their backs.

Cruz's {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} had three out versus Horak's {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} but found no help on the {7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Spades} runout, and left the tournament area in 14th.

Erlei Finds a Lucky Double Up

Nível 29 : 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Damian Lomza and Udo Erlei got all of the chips in the middle preflop and Erlei was at risk for his last 51 million chips. Lomza also held the best hand with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Erlei showing {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Erlei spiked an ace to take the lead. The turn was the {6-Hearts} and the river landed the {4-Clubs}, securing the full double up for Erlei.

Cruz Gets Bruised

Nível 29 : 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Felipe Ramos opened under the gun with a raise to 4,500,000, with action folding to Josafat Cruz on the button. Cruz put out a 3-bet to 12,000,000, prompting Ramos to put the entirety of his remaining 61,000,000-chip stack in the middle. He was quickly called by Cruz and the cards were on their backs.

Ramos had the goods, {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and needed to fade one of two remaining jacks versus Cruz's {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. There was no help for Cruz on the {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} runout, and Ramos doubled up, leaving Cruz with just 10 big blinds.

Lomza Four-Bet Shoves

Nível 29 : 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Damian Lomza raised to 4.5 million on the button and Michael Malm three-bet to 12 million out of the big blind. Lomza reached back for a four-bet to 45 million, enough to cover Malm's remaining stack.

Malm looked back at his cards and sat upright in his chair but elected to fold, leaving himself with just over 10 big blinds.
