Gonzalez Wins Cooler to Move Stack Over a Million
Jose Gonzalez opened the cutoff to 12,000 before Benjamin Tessier defended his big blind and they were off to a flop heads up.
The A♣3♥10♦ flop hit the felt and action checked to Gonzalez who continued for 8,000. Without thinking for too long Tessier put in a flop check-raise to 23,000. Gonzalez called.
The 2♦ landed on the turn introducing a backdoor flush draw and Tessier opted to continue the story for 54,000. Gonzalez came with a call once again.
The 5♦ landed on the river completing the backdoor flush and Tessier didn't skip a beat and led again for a large bet of 150,000. Gonzalez went into the tank and after a full time bank he announced he was all in. Although Tessier didn't look excited about it, he flicked in a call for his tournament life. The cards were tabled and the cooler was real.
Gonzalez rolled over A♦Q♦ for the rivered backdoor nut flush and Tessier tabled 4♦6♠ for the rivered nut straight with the flush blocker.
Tessier hit the rail and Gonzalez dragged a massive pot to move over the one million chip mark for the first time today.
