PokerNews Podcast: $20K Mistake, Negreanu Beats Polk, NAPT Returns, & Guest Tom Orpaz EPT Barcelona Heater

Nível 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

On the latest PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Connor Richards, and Matt Hansen catch you up to speed on what's been happening at EPT Barcelona, Daniel Negreanu defeating Doug Polk on High Stakes Duel, and the return of PokerStars' North American Poker Tour (NAPT).

They also delve into the Global Poker US Poker Open (USPO), tell you about the first winner from the the PokerStars Summer Series, cover two big hands involving pocket queens from the past week, and debate arguably the hottest topic of the week — would you pay back $20K after a player grossly misread his hand and called off on the river (which actually happened on Hustler Casino Live)?

As for a guest, Connor and Matt were at EPT Barcelona and caught up with Tom Orpaz, a high-stakes real estate entrepreneur who in his spare time can be found grinding the EPT High Roller circuit. Orpaz, who made headlines in 2020 for purchasing the most expensive apartment in the world, went on a tear at EPT Barcelona that saw him winning €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em and €50,000 Super High Roller Second Chance for two trophies and over $1 million in winnings, proving he can hold his own among the top pros. PokerNews caught up with Orpaz, who has proven to be one of the most entertaining and talkative players on typically reserved High Roller Circuit.

Only Clubs In The Deck

Nível 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Adrian Chiforescu opened from early position to 6,000 and was called by Maher Nouira on the button and by both players in the blinds.

Nouira stood up and leaned over the table to see a pretty KQA flop. Even though it looked nice, everybody checked, and all four players checked again on the turn 8. There was no more action on the river K.

First to reveal his cards, Nouira stood up again and placed 65 on the board for a flush. Chiforescu showed KJ and then mucked his cards.

On the next hand, Chiforescu, under the gun, raised preflop, and Nouira in the cutoff called again. The small blind also played, and the dealer revealed a flop of 6J4 with three clubs again. But this time, Chiforescu chose to bet 5,000. Nouira was the only one to call. Then both of them checked on the turn 7.

The river was the 4. Chiforescu bet 25,000, and eventually, Nouira folded the 2.

Maher Nouira: 76

The board ran out 2AA7K. Nouira paired his seven on the turn and Hjulstroem got ahead with a pair of kings on the river. He won the pot and doubled his stack.

Stausholm Gets Paid

Nível 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Martin Stausholm raised 6,000 under the gun and Oleh Okhotskyi called in the hijack.

Both players checked the QQ4 flop and the A peeled off on the turn. Stausholm led for 15,000 and Okhotskyi called.

When the 4 completed the board, Stausholm continued aggression, dropping 25,000 into the middle. Okhotskyi tanked for almost a minute before deciding to call. Stausholm tabled AJ, and Okhotskyi mucked his hand.

Nível 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Daniel Rezaei raised to 6,000 from early position and Gabriel Cunha moved all in from the small blind for 41,000. Rezaei called and players flipped their cards, with Cunha at risk.

Gabriel Cunha: A3
Daniel Rezaei: AJ

The board ran out 72564. Rezaei was ahead with ace jack, but Cunha picked up a straight flush draw and completed it on the river to double up his stack.

Bad Flop for Chiforescu

Nível 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Adrian Chiforescu raised 10,000 under the gun and the action folded around to Jacques Der Megreditchian in the big blind who made the call.

When the AKJ flop hit the felt, Der Megreditchian checked and Chiforescu checked back.

The 5 landed on the turn and Der Megreditchian led out for 11,500. Chiforescu frustratedly said "fold" as he tabled 1010 face up.
