Petrone Cracks Adams' Aces to Stay Alive

Nível 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Ramiro Petrone
Ramiro Petrone

Ramiro Petrone ended up getting his 110,000 chips in from the hijack and was at risk against Timothy Adams on the button.

Ramiro Petrone: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Timothy Adams: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

The {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop kept Adams ahead, although Petrone did pick up a backdoor straight draw. The {j-Spades} turn gave him those additional outs, and the {7-Diamonds} spiked the river to improve him to a straight and keep his tournament life alive as the table reacted at the unlikely result.

Seidel Sucks Out, Salas Re-Sucks

Nível 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Damian Salas
Damian Salas

Erik Seidel opened from under the gun and Damian Salas three-bet shoved a stack of 44,000 from the small blind. Seidel called with a bigger stack.

Damian Salas: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Erik Seidel: {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

"That's a pretty good hand against mine," Seidel said as he revealed his holding.

The flop of {j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} didn't change things, but the {8-Spades} on the turn gave Seidel the lead with jacks and eights as those at the table gasped. However, the {a-Spades} on the river was exactly what Salas needed as it gave the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion a flush to stay alive after the roller-coaster runout.

Bedell Secures Short-Stacked Double

Nível 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Tom-Aksel Bedell
Tom-Aksel Bedell

Francisco Benitez opened to 12,000 in the cutoff, Tom-Aksel Bedell moved all in for 20,000 on the button, and action folded back to Benitez.

"Please fold, pleeease fold!" urged Bedell.

"No, I can't!" Benitez responded as he put in the chips.

Tom-Aksel Bedell: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Francisco Benitez: {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

It was a flip, and the {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop put Benitez way ahead. However, the {8-Clubs} spiked the turn, and the {j-Clubs} confirmed Bedell's double.

"Okay, now I fold," joked Benitez.

Check-Raise from Seidel

Nível 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Erik Seidel was out of position in a heads-up pot against Tom-Aksel Bedell on a board reading {k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

Seidel checked on the flop and Bedell fired a bet of 10,5000. Seidel check-raised to around 70,000 and Bedell folded as he held onto his remaining stack of about 40,000.

Petrone Doubles Through Ponakovs; Ponakovs Busts on Next Hand

Nível 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Aleksejs Ponakovs
Aleksejs Ponakovs

Aleksejs Ponakovs jammed in middle position and Ramiro Petrone called for his 39,500 chips in the big blind.

Ramiro Petrone: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Aleksejs Ponakovs: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Petrone was pipped by Ponakovs, but the {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop was an interesting one. The {6-Hearts} hit the turn to give Petrone a flush, and the {8-Hearts} river confirmed the result to leave Ponakovs with only 8,500 chips.

On the next hand, Petrone moved in his remaining 8,500 chips under the gun, Stephen Chidwick raised to 13,000 in the hijack, and Adrian Mateos defended the big blind.

The dealer spread the {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop and Mateos check-folded to a bet of 6,000.

Aleksejs Ponakovs: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Stephen Chidwick: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Chidwick was ahead, and the {5-Clubs} turn and {2-Clubs} river changed nothing to eliminate Ponakovs from the tournament.
