Tag Team Champ Loses in Three-Way Dance

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Nikita Luther
Nikita Luther

Nikita Luther, who shared a win in the 2018 WSOP $1,000 Tag Team event, has been building a stack through the day, but recently dropped a small pot in a three-handed pot.

Luther raised to 2,500 in early position and was called by Ismail Jazdi on the button and Hayato Kitajima in the big blind.

On a flop of {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Kitajima checked, and Luther continued for 2,100. Both opponents called.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and with action again checked to her, Luther this time checked. Jazdi took the opportunity to bet 3,500.

Kitajima tanked, as the bet represented a sizable portion of his dwindling stack, then ultimately folded, as did Luther.

Huge Field Scatters Players Throughout the Building

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

It's not quite tables outside El Burro Borracho at the Rio, but with 1,415 entries so far in Day 1c, tournament staff were forced to seat players throughout the day not just in the overflow section outside the main tournament room, but upstairs in the secondary tournament room.

The field has thinned to 675 players remaining, leaving just a few tables outside the main tournament area, while Day 1d has begun in the upstairs secondary room.

Bsaibes Finds a Double

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player in the under-the-gun position raised to 2,500 and Ramzi Bsaibes three-bet to 15,600 from the button. The blinds got out of the way and his opponent jammed his last 25,000 into the middle. Bsaibes called with less and action was heads up.

Ramzi Bsaibes: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and the turned ace was good enough to score the double for Bsaibes.

Mistaken Action Turns to All-In

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The floor was called to clarify the action of Grzegorz Reczko, who had verbalized "eleven" with the blinds at 500/1000/1000. The floor's decision was that his action would just be a call.

Behind him, Chung Tran Do called, then Thomas Quaade moved all-in for 28,700 (and a lucky apple).

In the big blind, Pascal van der Brand went into the tank for a couple of minutes before deciding to fold (later saying he folded {a-}{q-}).

Reczko put the rest of his stack in, which totaled 21,600, and Do folded.

Thomas Quaade: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Grzegorz Reczko: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The board came {3-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, giving Reczko a winning top pair, while Quaade's lucky apple failed him, leaving him short-stacked.

Lappin Scores Back-to-Back Pots for a Big Double

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
David Lappin
David Lappin

David Lappin raised to 2,000 from middle position and Yaniv Botbol called from two seats over.

The flop was {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and Lappin checked. Botbol bet 3,000 and Lappin check-raised to 9,000. Botbol quickly got away from it and Lappin took the pot, bringing his stack to around 77,000.

On the very next hand, Lappin raised to 2,000 again. Action folded around to a player on the button, who three-bet to 6,700. Lappin called and the flop was {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

Lappin checked the flop and called when his opponent bet 4,500. The turn was {2-Clubs}.

Lappin checked once again and quickly called when his opponent bet 13,500. The river was {3-Spades}.

The player on the button shoved for 47,000 after Lappin checked for a third time. After a brief moment of thought, Lappin looked his opponent up and turned over {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. The button had {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Lappin counted out his last 44,000 for a big double.

As the hand was reaching its climax, 2018 WSOP Europe Main Event champ Jack Sinclair took his new seat at the table.

"I was going to toss it, but Jack arrived and I didn't want to look weak," Lappin said as pulled in the giant pot.

Gilboa a Victim of Runner Runner

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

2019 EPT Sochi Main Event champion Uri Gilboa just alerted PokerNews to a big pot he was recently involved in.

On a flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, Fagundes Borges checked, Gilboa bet 4,000, and then Luka Cencelj raised to 11,000. Borges folded and Gilboa moved all-in for about 32,000. Cencelj called to put his tournament life at risk.

Luka Cencelj: {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Uri Gilboa: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Cencelj held top and bottom pair, but Gilboa had flopped the nut straight.

The dealer however would not be kind to Gilboa, putting out the {k-Hearts} on the turn and the {2-Hearts} on the river to give Cencelj a backdoor flush and take a big chunk from Gilboa's stack.

Lin Comes from Behind for a Double

Nível 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

With 14,000 in the pot and {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} on the board, Yi Lin shoved his last 13,000 into the middle from the big blind. Gianluca Cammarata called from the cutoff and action was heads up with Lin at risk.

The river was {9-Hearts} and the cards were flipped over. Lin had {j-Spades}{9-Spades} for a missed flush draw, but he paired the river anyways to beat Cammarata and his {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}.
