Welcome to the first day of the 2019 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour here in the Monte Carlo Bay Resort & Hotel in Monaco. The jam-packed schedule of 41 events kicks off today at 4 PM local time with the first day of the €1,100 No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout. Last year, this event attracted 183 players with Mazin Khoury walking away victorious with €177,510 and the PokerStars Spade.
Other notable players who reached the final table included Borge Sandsgaard, Marcin Chmielewski, and Dominique Terzian. Last year’s tournament was scheduled towards the end of the festival while it is now the opener in this year’s proceedings in the Salle des Etoiles at the Sporting Club. PokerNews will be covering a slew of the events here including the 10,300 NLHE Single Reentry later on today. Other events to follow include the €1,100 French National Championship, €100,000 EPT Super High Roller, €330 EPT Cup, and of course, the €5,300 EPT Main Event.
When the “shuffle up and deal” has been announced at 4 PM, players will be seated with a starting stack of 20,000 in chips. The tournament is scheduled to play 12 levels of 40 minutes each today and features a big blind ante which will come into play during the second level. A 20-minute break will take place after every three levels with a 75-minute dinner break after the sixth level of play. No reentries will be possible as it’s a freezeout and registration will close at the start of Level 9 which will be at approximately 10:55 PM.

The first players have taken their seats at the tables for the first event of the series here in Monte Carlo. The button has been drawn for seat 8 and the dealers have been instructed to shuffle up and deal if they have three or more players at their tables.
With 50 players seated at the tables, the action is slowly heating up. Two familiar faces have been spotted already: Francois Evard and Duff Charette.
On Charette's table, there was 700 in the middle already while the flop read . Abedel Douair had checked in the small blind and Charette bet 300 which Douair called.
The turn brought them the and now Charette continued with a bet of 300 which Douair check-called again.
The river completed the board with the on which they both checked. Douair tabled which was enough for Charette to muck his hand.

The board read with around 11,000 in the middle already.
Hrayr Grigoryan had checked in the big blind while Laurent Torres had a big bet of 8,400 in front of him on the button. Grigoryan tanked for a while, counting out his own stack before opting to call.
Torres showed for the bluff for Grigoryan to scoop the pot with as he had made two pair.

The newly minted PokerStars Team Pro from France, Kalidou Sow, has taken his seat amongst the 85 players that are showing on the tournament clock.
The player in the under-the-gun position raised to 300 and Sow decided to three-bet to 900 from the cutoff. David Domjan called on the button while the blinds and the initial raiser all folded.
The flop came down on which they both checked through to the on the turn on which they did the same.
The river completed the board with the and now Sow bet 1,600. Domjan considered his options for a few seconds, cut out calling chips and then decided to make the call. Sow tabled for the flopped pair of sixes which he improved to two pair on the river and that was enough for Domjan to muck his hand.

The board read with around 9,000 in the middle already. The floor was called over for the clock with Wei Huang having a bet of 7,600 in front of him. Mattias Hansen had gone all-in for more and Huang has apparently tanked long enough for the clock to have been called on him.
While the floor counted down from five, Huang reluctantly folded. The dealer pushed the pot Hansen's way and Huang claimed to have folded a flush on which Hansen commented that that was a big fold then.
