A Winner Will be Crowned in the €100,000 Super High Roller

2019 PokerStars Monte Carlo EPT
2019 PokerStars Monte Carlo EPT

Heading into the last day of competition for the €100,000 Super High Roller, there are just nine players remaining from a field of 52. It is one of the most prestigious events on the 2019 PokerStars and Monte Carlo®Casino EPT schedule and it comes with a payday of over €1.5 million.

Leading the charge is Daniel Dvoress who built up a lead heading into the final table and then put it on cruise control. Dvoress will return to the felt with 3,865,000 chips, nearly double that of second place Sam Greenwood (1,960,000). The final table was reached with over two hours left to play, but no more eliminations occurred in that time frame.

The short stacks continued to double up time and time again as the night wore on and eventually, the players called it quits after a 13 hour day. That will result in the tournament average sitting at just 24 big blinds when the action resumes and could make for some exciting play heading into the bubble.

The cards will go back in the air at 12:30 p.m. local time at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort and Hotel. The blinds will resume at 30,000/60,000 with a 60,000 big blind ante and will continue to be 60 minutes in length. There will be a 20-minute break after every two levels with no dinner break scheduled at this time.

Of the nine returning players, only seven will leave with some cash in their pocket. A min-cash will be worth €264,860 while the winner will be taking home €1,589,190. For Sam Greenwood, he needs to finish sixth or better in order to make it a profitable day, seeing as he fired three bullets. As the defending champion, he will be looking to repeat history from last year. And for Dvoress, he is looking to record his first seven-figure score with a top-two finish.

Follow along with the PokerNews live reporting team to find out how all of the action will unfold and who will claim the victory.

Luc Greenwood Eliminated in the First Hand

Nível 19 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Lucas Greenwood
Lucas Greenwood

Luc Greenwood came into the day as one of the short stacks and he pushed all in for 675,000 in the hijack. It was the very first hand of the day and Koray Aldemir re-shoved all in on the button. The blinds folded and the cards were tabled.

Koray Aldemir: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Luc Greenwood: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The flop came {j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Greenwood was left drawing very slim. The {a-Diamonds} on the turn and the {7-Spades} on the river did him in. Greenwood was the first elimination of the day and the players are now on the money bubble.

Aldemir Bubbles the €100,000 Super High Roller

Nível 20 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Koray_Aldemir
Koray_Aldemir

The action folded to Koray Aldemir in the cutoff who slid out a raise to 750,000, leaving himself with 480,000 behind. Daniel Dvoress eyed up Aldemir's stack and then announced all in. Aldemir quickly called and the cards were on their backs.

Daniel Dvoress: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Koray Aldemir: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

It was a massive coin flip on the bubble and the flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} left Aldemir in the lead with his pair of nines. The {2-Clubs} on the turn didn't change anything but the {a-Spades} on the river did. Dvoress paired his ace and it was a disaster for Aldemir who was eliminated on the money bubble.

Wiktor Malinowski
Wiktor Malinowski

Sergio Aido raised to 200,000 on the button and Wiktor Malinowski pushed the last of his 570,000 chips into the middle. Aido instantly called and had Malinowski dominated.

Sergio Aido: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Wiktor Malinowski: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Malinowski was still looking to hit an eight in order to stay alive. The {6-Spades} on the turn was no help and the {7-Diamonds} on the river eliminated Malinowski in seventh place.

Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

The action folded to Charlie Carrel in the small blind and he ripped all in for just over 1,000,000. Sergio Aido looked down at his cards in the big blind and made the call to put Carrel at risk.

Sergio Aido: {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Charlie Carrel: {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The flop of {j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} got some "Oohh's" and "Aahh's" from the table as Carrel picked up a two-way straight draw. But the {2-Hearts} and {8-Spades} were of no help and Carrel exited the tournament in sixth place. With that pot, Aido has made a full comeback from the short stack to the chip leader.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river was the {10-Hearts}. Cortes made a flush and Badziakouski was ousted in fifth place.

Daniel Dvoress was the short stack at the table with around 15 big blinds and he shipped all in from the cutoff for 1,540,000. Sergio Aido asked for a count from the small blind and then made the call. Jesus Cortes folded his big blind and the two hands were tabled.

Sergio Aido: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

As if Aido wasn't ahead by enough already, the flop of {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} instantly secured him the pot. Dvoress was drawing dead to the {4-Spades} and {5-Clubs} runout and he became the fourth-place finisher.

Sam Greenwood raised to 250,000 on the button and Sergio Aido stuck in a three-bet to 960,000 in the small blind. The action was back on Greenwood who shoved all in for 3,250,000. Aido snapped him off and was in a commanding lead again.

Sergio Aido: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Sam Greenwood: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Aido picked up pocket kings again at an opportune time and had Greenwood on the ropes. While he didn't flop quads again, the flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} was still in his favor. The {4-Diamonds} landed on the turn and the {8-Spades} hit the river to send Greenwood to the payout desk in third place.

Aido and Jesus Cortes are taking a quick break before the heads-up action resumes.

Jesús Cortes

Jesus Cortes entered the heads-up match as a huge underdog in chips against a red-hot Sergio Aido. When Aido limped in on his button, Cortes announced all in for around 1,750,000, just under 15 big blinds. Aido quickly called and the cards were on their backs for what could be the last time.

Sergio Aido: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Jesus Cortes: {9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Aido remained in the lead with his king-high. The turn was the {j-Hearts} and the river was the {5-Spades} to bring an end to the tournament. Cortes will have to settle for second place but will still leave with a seven-figure payday.
