Rui Sousa
Rui Sousa

Rui Sousa made it 550,000 to go with the {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} on the button and won the big blind and big blind ante of Simon Brandstrom.

Sousa opened to 550,000 one hand later with the {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Marton Czuczor called with {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} in the big blind. On a {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop, Czuczor checked and released his cards into the muck when he faced a continuation bet of Sousa.

Czuczor limped the small blind with {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Diego Falcone checked {q-Clubs}{8-Spades} in the big blind. Falcone flopped the second pair on {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Czuczor bet 250,000, which Falcone called.

After the {k-Diamonds} turn, Czuczor slowed down and checked. Falcone bet 375,000 and that won the pot.

In a battle of the blinds, Falcone with {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and Sousa with {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} created a pot of 1,850,000 to the {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop. Falcone bet 1,100,000 and Sousa called to see the {6-Diamonds} on the turn.

Both players checked to the {j-Spades} river and Falcone used a time bank before betting 1,350,000. Sousa also used two of his time bank extensions and made the call to win a decent pot off Falcone.

Trophies
Trophies

Today is the day that the record-breaking 2019 PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona will come to a conclusion as six players return to battle it out on the felt until there’s one left. The 1,988-strong field has played for five days already and the six remaining players are guaranteed at least €295,520 but they will all be aiming for a bigger share of the €9,641,800 prize pool as the winner will walk away with the mind-blowing amount of €1,659,000 and title and trophy.

On the final day, it’s Sweden’s Simon Brandstrom who is leading the way with 18,500,000 in chips. Brandstrom is followed by Marton Czuczor from Hungary with 14,450,000, the only other player who has bagged an above-average stack. Rui Sousa and Giovani Torre will be coming back to the tables to represent Portugal with stacks of 9,100,000 and 4,450,000 respectively.

Diego Falcone hails from Brazil but actually lives in Spain and will be returning to the final day with 8,600,000. And then there’s Yunye Lu who will be the third Chinese player over the last twelve months to try and take down the EPT Main Event title after Hoaxiang Wang and Wei Huang finished in second place during the 2018 EPT Barcelona and 2019 EPT Monte Carlo. Lu bagged 4,500,000 on the penultimate day.

Level duration will last 90 minutes until there are 3 players left. When they reach those three final players, the level duration will be halved to 45 minutes at the start of the next new level. A break has been scheduled after every level. Players will also receive 5 extra time bank cards at the start of the day as they will still be playing with a 30-second shot clock.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be there when the action commences at noon local time but as there’s a live stream, the live reporting will be following the same delay of 30 minutes. So make sure to follow all the updates from 12:30 p.m. local time until the winner has been found right here at Casino Barcelona.
