Just 26 Remain in €10,300 High Roller; Plays Down to a Winner Today

€10,300 EPT Barcelona High Roller
€10,300 EPT Barcelona High Roller

A gruelling day is in the offing here on Day 3 of the European Poker Tour Barcelona €10,300 High Roller as the remaining players must play down to a winner.

From a field of 540 just 26 remain, with Lander Lijo heading the chip counts with 2,050,000. That's good enough for 66 big blinds and with the average at less than 35 big blinds, the pace of bustouts, at least initially, should be pretty regular

Behind Lijo comes Antonios Paschalidis (2,015,000) and Timur Khamidullin (2,000,000), whilst at the bottom of the counts Jack Salter (300,000), Anton Siden (320,000), Guillaume Nolet (430,000) and Anton Wigg (445,000) will hope a good start can reignite their prospects of taking down the title.

The tournament is played with a shot clock and players will receive three extra time extensions at the start of play today, as well as three upon making the final table.

Stay tuned to PokerNews to follow all the live action right here from the Casino Barcelona.

Nível 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Anton Wigg
Anton Wigg

It folded to Chris Hunichen in the small blind who moved all in with Anton Wigg sitting on 440,000 in the big blind. Hunichen covered his opponent and Wigg called and was all in.

Chris Hunichen: {k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Anton Wigg: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

There was a king on the flop of {k-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} giving Hunichen the lead. He held on the {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} runout and sent Wigg to the rail as the first casualty of Day 3.

Salter Eliminates Khamidullin

Nível 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Timur Khamidullin
Timur Khamidullin

Jack Salter raised it up from the hijack and Timur Khamidullin shipped all in for his last 190,000 in the big blind. Salter quickly called and the cards were tabled.

Jack Salter: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Timur Khamidullin: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Salter was in bad shape but the flop of {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} helped him out significantly. The {4-Hearts} on the turn and the {2-Spades} on the river couldn't save Khamidullin as he headed to the payout desk.

Andreas Berggren raised to 85,000 in the hijack and Alex Keating shoved all in for 825,000 from the cutoff. The action folded back to Berggren who instantly called.

Andreas Berggren: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Alex Keating: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Keating was up against it, needing an ace in order to stay alive. The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Berggren barely had Keating covered to send him to the rail.

Quads for Bardon to Double Up

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Manuel Bardon (l) and Antonios Paschalidis (r)
Manuel Bardon (l) and Antonios Paschalidis (r)

Antonios Paschalidis opened to 100,000 and Manuel Bardon three-bet all in for 860,000. Paschalidis called with {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and was ahead of the {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} of Bardon.

However a deuce on the {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop and another on the {2-Spades} turn gave Bardon quads, and the {q-Hearts} on the river was salt in the wound of Paschalidis.

"Unbelievable man," said Paschalidis.

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai

Davidi Kitai pushed out a raise to 460,000 in early position, leaving himself with just 50,000 chips behind. Uri Reichenstein shoved all in on the button and the action was back on Kitai who called after the action on the other table was finished.

Uri Reichenstein: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Davidi Kitai: {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} left Reichenstein in the lead with his pair of sevens. The {k-Clubs} on the turn gave Kitai a couple of extra outs but the {7-Diamonds} on the river only improved Reichenstein to a full house.

Dmitry Yurasov Eliminated in 15th Place (€53,950)

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Dmitry Yurasov
Dmitry Yurasov

Chris Hunichen had chipped up through Jack Salter before he limped in the cutoff. Dmitry Yurasov three-bet all in for 550,000 from the button, with Lander Lijo flat-calling in the big blind.

Hunichen then re-raised all in and Lijo folded.

Chris Hunichen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Dmitry Yurasov: {q-Spades}{8-Spades}

The flop {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} took away Yurasov's queen outs, meaning he would need an eight or a nine to stay alive. The turn {j-Diamonds} and river {3-Spades} wasn't what he needed and he was eliminated.

Steven van Zadelhoff
Steven van Zadelhoff

With the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) 2019 kicking off next Thursday (Sep 6), who better to talk to than former $10K Main Event champion Steven van Zadelhoff?

WCOOP is arguably the most exciting time of the year for online poker, with big buy-ins, huge guarantees, and stacked fields making for a thrilling three weeks of poker.

One player in particular who is looking forward to the grind is the Netherlands’ Steven van Zadelhoff. After all, he took down the $10K Main Event in 2017 for a career-best $1.62 million, so he has some very fond memories.

He’ll be looking to do the double this year, but before that we caught up with him at EPT Barcelona, where he has just notched up another career highlight.
