The $100K Super High Roller Champ Takes His Leave

Nível 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

In one of the last hands of Level 7, Greg Merson opened for 1,600 and António Manuel Da Costa Ferreira called. Joe McKeehen then three-bet to 5,100 from the button, Bryn Kenny four-bet to 13,200 from the big blind, and Merson folded. Costa went to call the 5,100, and when he put in the chips he was informed of Kenney's raise. Costa then opted to call for 13,200 while McKeehen got out of the way.

When the flop came down {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Kenney bet 15,000, Costa moved all in for 29,200, and Kenney called off for what looked to be 28,000.

Kenney: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Costa: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Kenney needed some help to stay alive, but he was left wanting as the {Q-Spades} bricked on the turn followed by the {7-Hearts} on the river.

Greenberg Ships it On Sointula

Nível 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Lawrence Greenberg just raised to 1,800 and Shaun Deeb called on his direct left, after which Jani Sointula and both blinds called as well.

The flop came out {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{9-Spades} and both blinds checked, after which Greenberg bet 3,200 by throwing out one chip worth 5,000 and two chips worth 100. Greenberg had announced his bet size verbally, as he had no yellow 1,000 chips left to bet, and Deeb folded.

Sointula, who was clearly making the call, threw out the same chips, but as did not state his action, Deeb pointed out that this had to be a raise. Both blinds quickly folded, and the tournament director was called over, who ruled that Sointula indeed had to make it 6,400.

After Sointula put in the raise, Greenberg shoved for 29,300 and Sointula smiled before folding.

A Lucky Turn of Events For Winter

Nível 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The flop showed {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} when Sean Winter ended up all in for his tournament life worth 36,200 and Charlie Carrel was his opponent. Winter stood up, as he found out that his hand was in a whole lot of trouble.

Winter: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Carrel: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

"Can I still re-enter?" Winter said, right before the {Q-Diamonds} hit on the turn giving him a big lead.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Winter doubled up, and the only thing Carrel received was a slice of pepperoni pizza his girlfriend brought over right at the same time.

Kelly Done In By Peters

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Action folded to Patrick Kelly on the button and he opened with a raise, which David Peters three-bet to 5,000 from the small blind. Kelly responded with a four-bet all in for 15,900 and Peters snap-called.

Peters: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Kelly: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Peters was out in front, but the {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop made things interesting by giving Kelly an open-ended straight draw. Unfortunately for him, neither the {6-Diamonds} turn nor {3-Clubs} river helped him and he was eliminated from the tournament.

The Ladies Love the 2009 WSOP Champ

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

[Removed:17] opened for 2,000 and Davidi Kitai called. 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Joe Cada then three-bet to 6,900 from the big blind, Yan four-bet to 14,000, and Kitai came to life with a five-bet to 23,000. Cada thought for a bit, and while he didn't seem thrilled about it, he moved all in for 26,900. Yan got out of the way and Kitai made the call.

Kitai: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Cada: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

It was a flip, but Cada was the one at risk. He was looking for his ladies to hold, and they came through for him as the board ran out a lowly {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Carrel and Seymour Keep Tangling

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Charlie Carrel just raised to 2,000 in early position and Richard Seymour called from his direct left. Sean Winter three-bet from the big blind to 7,200 and both Carrel and Seymour called.

The flop brought out {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Winter checked after which Carrel tanked for a while before betting 9,000.

Seymour stared at Carrel for a bit, as he's been sitting to his left all day, but eventually he folded and Winter folded as well.

Seymour's been holding his own at the table, and right now he's still sitting comfortably on about 85,000 chips.

Greenwood Busts Kurganov

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Luc Greenwood just raised to 2,000 from the hijack and Igor Kurganov three-bet all in from the button for 7,200. Jani Sointula, in the big blind, four bet to 14,400 and the action was back on Greenwood.

"My suggestion is," Kurganov smiled, "Jam and fold," as he pointed to Greenwood first, and then to Sointula.

Greenwood eventually five-bet, and Sointula snap-folded, giving Kurganov exactly what he wanted.

Greenwood: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Kurganov: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and the river gave Greenwood a straight, sending Kurganov to the rail. Kurganov went back to the cashier to re-enter, and we'll see him again soon.

Last Year's Runner-Up Straightened Out

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

We missed the hand unfold, but we do know that last year's runner-up, Joe Kuether, was just eliminated at the hands of David Peters.

The chips went in on the river with the board reading {6-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Kuether's {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} two pair proved no good against Peters' rivered straight with the {5-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

Something tells us we haven't seen the last of Kuether, who can still reenter up until the start of play on Day 2.
