It All Comes Down to the Kicker

Nível 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Action folded to Simon Deadman on the button and he raised to 600. Jeff Rossiter opted to defend his big blind and it was heads-up action to the {3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Spades} flop.

Both players checked, as they did on the {K-Clubs} turn, and the {10-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Rossiter led out for 1,100, and Deadman made a quick call. Rossiter tabled the {k-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a pair of kings, but his kicker was no good as Deadman also held a pair of kings with the {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}.

An NFL Star Among Poker Pros

Nível 1 : 100/200, 25 ante
Richard Seymour
Richard Seymour

It's hard to miss a man that measures 6 ft 6 and well over 300 pounds in a poker tournament room filled with normal mortals, as former NFL star Richard Seymour can't be missed in today's $25k High Roller.

Seymour's accomplishments on the field are stellar, having made the Pro Bowl seven times and wining the Super Bowl three times with the New England Patriots.

The defensive tackle, who was picked sixth in the 2001 NFL draft, played the latter years of his career for the Oakland Raiders where he became, at the time, the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. Seymour signed a two-year contract extension worth $30 million dollars in 2011, and he retired at the end of his contract.

Seymour's no stranger to the green felt, as he played the Main Event at the PCA this year, and he's managed to cash in two WPT events in the last two years. Today he'll be battling it out with the likes of Mike McDonald, Peter Jetten, Charlie Carell and Talal Shakerchi.

Hunichen vs. Akkari

Nível 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Chris "Big Huni" Hunichen opened for 525 under the gun and was met by a three-bet to 1,500 from Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari on the button. Both blinds folded, Hunichen called, and the flop came down {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

Hunichen check-called a bet of 1,800, and then check-called one of 3,400 on the {5-Clubs} turn. When the {2-Clubs} completed the board on the river, both players checked and Hunichen tabled the {a-Spades}{j-Spades} for a missed flush that turned into a wheel. Akkari then revealed the {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for the same hand.

As they love to say on the EPT, "Everyone loves a chopped pot!"

One for Patel

Nível 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Emil Patel raised to 600 from the hijack and was met by a three-bet to 2,300 by Isaac Haxton in the small blind. Patel made the call and it was heads-up action to the {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop. Haxton continued for 1,700, Patel called, and the dealer burned and turned the {9-Spades}.

Action went check-check and the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Haxton checked for a second time and then folded when Patel bet 4,500.

Lehr Accuses Philachack of Having No Heart

Nível 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Andy Philachack just raised to 500 and Luc Greenwood three-bet from his direct left to 1,500, getting the other players to quickly fold. Philachack made the call and the flop brought out {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades} on which Philachack checked to Greenwood.

Greenwood bet 2,000 on the flop and Philachack called, putting the {10-Spades} on the turn.

Philachack checked to Greenwood again, who bet 5,500 on the turn and his opponent called again.

The river completed the board with the {J-Diamonds} and Philachack checked a third time.

Greenwood did not stop betting as he fired out 13,000, and Philachack went into the tank for quite some time before folding.

Philachack showed the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} as he threw his cards into the muck.

"Aces, kings, jacks, tens," Philachack named off the hands that he couldn't beat.

"If the river's not a jack I call for sure," Philachack added.

"Everything beats me," Philachack finally said, after which Keith Lehr responded right away.

"Your tiny little heart beats you," Lehr said, as the players at the table started laughing.

"Come on man, show some heart!" Lehr added. "If it was me, I would've already been at the window for a rebuy."

Greenwood eventually consoled Philachack, saying, "It's better to have discipline than heart," but he did not reveal the contents of his hand.
