Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof Wins Vienna Ladies Event

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

While Day 1a of the European Poker Tour and the final table of the Eureka High Roller headlined Sunday's action at the Hofburg Palace, another tournament — the EPT10 Vienna €330 Women's Event — was playing out across the room.

The tournament attracted 61 participants, which created a prize pool of €17,751 prize pool. In the end, Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof from Germany made it to heads-up play against Hungary's Laszlone Balics. Hof was on the verge of elimination holding {j-}{j-} against Balics' {a-}{a-}, but a lucky jack on the river extended her tournament life. Not long after, Hof claimed the trophy and €5,325 first-place prize.

Brummelhuis and Walthaus Share the Table

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Once we arrived the turn was already out there in a hand between November Niner Michiel Brummelhuis and the player in the big blind. With the board reading {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} the big blind had 575 out in front of him. Brummelhuis, seated in the under the gun/hijack position as the table was still five handed, raised it up to 2,200. The big blind called.

The river brought the {9-Clubs} into play and the big blind quickly tapped the table. Brummelhuis carefully picked some chips and placed them in the middle; 6,525. The big blind quickly released his hand and the dealer got underway shuffling the cards for the next hand. Brummelhuis is up to a little over starting stack after that hand.

Brummelhuis is sharing the table with fellow countryman Jorn Walthaus. Walthaus and Brummelhuis both went deep in last years WSOP Main Event and even swapped a little piece in the process. Walthaus finished 26th for $285,408, while Brummelhuis ended up finishing seventh for $1,225,356.

Blain in Early Action

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

As we have mentioned a table needs three players to start the action but in this case the button, Russian PokerStars player Tatiana Barausova, had chips in front of her seat but was temporarily away from the table. Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Dermot Blain was in the small blind and opened for 250. Kai Herold from Germany defended the big blind and they saw a flop.

{q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Blain continued for 250 Herold made the call to see a turn card {8-Spades}. Blain continued for 550 and again Herold made the call. The river was the {j-Clubs} and when both players checked Balin turned over {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts} having hit his pair on the river. No good though as Herold turned over the {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for the flopped top pair.

Cooler Hand Sends Drinan Out the Door

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

It didn't take long for the first elimination of the day to occur. About 20 minutes into the level, Connor Drinan got his remaining stack all in on the river with a board reading {3-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Drinan held the {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for a flopped set, but it was no good as Mikhail Petrov had flopped a bigger set with the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}. The cooler hand made it a short but not-so-sweet stay for Drinan in Vienna.

Meanwhile, both [Removed:2] and Christian Golob have been eliminated from the tournament here in the first level of the day.

What Does Lodden Think About That?

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

We happened upon the action with 1,400 or so in the pot and a board reading {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Norway's Bernhard Svaeren was first to act in the big blind, and he opted to check. Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden took the opportunity to bet 650 from the hijack, and then Svaeren woke up with a check-raise to 1,650.

Lodden wasted little time in making the call and then watched Svaeren lead out for 2,300 on the {A-Diamonds} river. Lodden responded with a raise to 8,600, and that sent Svaeren into the tank. After a minute or so he announced a call only to muck when Lodden rolled over the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for a rivered full house.
