2014 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final
Andrey Gulyy opened for 2,400 and Annette Obrestad called in the cutoff. Aliaksei Zhuk from Belarus raised it to 7,800 from the big blind. Gulyy folded and Obrestad quickly moved all in.
Zhuk got the count of 33,300 and made the call. Obrestad had [8s 8] but Zhuk had crucially sneaked just ahead in the pair stakes with .
The board ran out and Obrestad’s tilt at the main event came to a premature end.
“Good game.” Obrestad offered. “See ya.” said Zhuk.
Turning to your PokerNews reporter watching the action he said, “I killed two girls. Can you imagine?”

The EPT Grand Final has never been the easiest of tournaments to play. Of course, the big money attracts the qualifiers looking for a big pay day, but it also attracts the biggest players from around the globe. Table 13 is particular tough as it features several players who've all been around the block.
Two of them squared of just now. On a Talal Shakerchi was seen betting out 3,000 from middle position. Phil Ivey in the hijack was the one calling and he called a 4,500 bet on the -turn as well. The river came the and with four to a straight, Shakerchi now checked. Ivey fired a mere 6,000 and Shakerchi quickly released his hand.
Not much later at the same table we saw Shakerchi involved in a pot again. PokerStars Team Online player Marc-Andre Ladouceur opened for 2,200 under the gun plus two and Emil Patel made the call in the hijack. Shakerchi in the big blind added 1,200 to see a flop as well.
Shakerchi checked on and Ladouceur bet out 3,500. Patel folded, Shakerchi made the call. Both players checked the on the turn and the completed the board. Shakerchi checked, and called the 7,800 bet that Ladouceur made.
Ladouceur tabled and had to split the pot with Shakerchi who showed .

Marc Daubach from the UK has over 100k in chips but he didn’t get the greatest table draw in history. Sat to his right is Talal Shakerchi, who finished day 1a as second in chips, and sat to his left is Phil Ivey who, well, is Ivey. He seems to be taking it in his stride though.
The three of them had got to a flop of and had all checked. A turn card of was checked to big blind Ivey who bet 4,000. Shakerchi folded and Daubach made the call. The river was checked down and Ivey showed his missed turn gut-shot draw with while Daubach was good with his .
On the next hand Shakerchi opened for 3,500 and Daubach called from the button. Ivey and the big blind left them to it and they checked down to the river on a final board showing . Shakerchi just mucked his cards and Daubach won the pot with unseen cards.
Mike McDonald opened to 2,000 preflop and Alex Bilokur made it 5,000 in middle position. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov made the call in the small blind but McDonald then four-bet to 13,000.
Bilokur folded and Katchalov made the call.
The flop was , Katchalov checked and McDonald bet 12,000. Katchalov folded.
"Nice hand Mike," said Katchalov.
"I think we both had nice hands," replied McDonald, "after that flop I'm glad you had a folding hand...I mean I'd call but I wouldn't be too happy with it."
"There's not too many people I play my hand that way against..." responded the Ukrainian.
At that point the conversation was stopped as Bruno Fitoussi had opened to 2,200. Katchalov was one of two callers before Mike McDonald made it 9,000 from the big blind. Fitoussi moved all in for about 33,000 and everyone folded back to McDonald - the Canadian quickly slid in the call.
Fitoussi:
McDonald:
The flop was an interesting as McDonald made a pair and a gutshot but Fitoussi picked up an open-ended straight draw. A was the blankiest blank ever when it came on the turn but the river made McDonald a straight to win a big pot. Fitoussi could only shrug and shake hands with his assassin.

We are on Day 2 of the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino Main Event, 427 players showed up for Day 1b along with the 214 from Day 1a, 347 active prior to the end of registration. Jennifer Robles informs you on who is in, who is out and if Steve O'Dwyer is in good shape for a title defense.
The Skrill Last Longer competition has been being held at each stop on this season’s EPT, of which they’re an official sponsor. The promotion is simple – players sign up for the promotion either online (preregistration is available) or at the Skrill booth (which will be present at each stop); don a Skrill patch; and then aim to be the last man or woman standing. The last player remaining will then receive their buy-in back via their Skrill account.
It's the last stop of Season 10, and that means it's the last Skill Last Longer competition of the season. On Day 1a, 214 players took their shot at poker glory on Day 1a, and of them 31 players participated in the contest, which was 14% of the field. Day 1b saw 41 players register, which was 10% of that starting field. Today, just 40 of them return to action (scroll to the bottom of this post to see which players began Day 2).
While Skrill upped the ante for Season 10 with a bigger branding initiative, it wasn't their first appearance on the EPT; as a matter of fact, they were a sponsor of Season 8 and have held previous “Last Longer” promotions.

The turn was the and they all checked the already bloated pot. The river card was the . Herrera checked and Alilovic now bet a chunky 30,000.
