Yong Makes a Move on Stern

Nível 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We missed the majority of the action, but we did see Richard Yong with the all-in button out in front of him on a board reading {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. There was a considerable amount already pulled into the middle and action was on Dani Stern.

He seemed taken aback by the shove, but soon released his hand. Yong couldn't help himself and proudly tabled the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Despite having two pair, Yong looked at it as more of a bluff.

"Wow," Jason Mercier said before joking, "You though you had pocket sixes."

Yong laughed it off, assured him that wasn't the case and then collected the pot.

Negreanu Takes a Bite of Elky

Nível 2 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

John Duhamel opened the action from middle position for 3,000. When Philipp Gruissem called, so did Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier giving Daniel Negreanu a reason to call from the small blind and bringing the big blind in too. Five players to the flop from eight and we saw {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. It was checked around to Gruissem who bet 8,000, was called by Grospellier and then check-raised to 28,000 by Negranu from the small blind.

Gruissem got out of the way but Grospellier made the call. The {3-Spades} on the turn and Negreanu, first to act, checked. Grospellier checked right behind and they saw a river card {4-Clubs}. This time Negreanu led out for 36,000 and a puzzled looking Grospellier didn’t waste much in calling the bet. The puzzle was solved however when Negreanu turned over {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and a frustrated Grospellier mucked.

Thorel vs. Jensen

Nível 2 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

With approximately 25,000 in the pot and a board reading {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, Jean-Noel Thorel bet 15,000 and received a call from Frederik Jensen. When the {J-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Thorel fired out 17,500 and Jensen made the call.

Thorel tabled the {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for a rivered set, and it was good as Jensen mucked his cards.

Nice Pot Pushed Lehmanski's Way

Nível 2 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Defending champion Dan Smith opened with a raise from under the gun to 4,400. Joni Joukimainen called from the next seat, then Philip Sternheimer made the call out of the hijack seat. Max Lehmanski had the button, and he reraised to 21,400 after play moved over to him. The blinds folded, then Smith called. Joukimainen and Sternheimer also folded, leaving Smith and Lehmanski heads up.

The {J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} graced the players on the flop. Smith was first to act and checked. Lehmanski bet 19,500, and Smith called to see the {Q-Hearts} added to the board on the turn. Smith checked again, and this time Lehmanski upped his bet to 42,000. Smith took a minute to think, then folded, and Lehmanski won the pot.

Last year, Smith captured the title in this event, winning €962,925. Despite being knocked back to 190,000 after this hand, he knows better than anyone that this is a very long tournament with a great structure, so a few setbacks along the way shouldn't bother him too much.

More for McDonald

Nível 2 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

From early position, Season 4 EPT German Open winner Mike Donald raised to 3,500. Marc-Andre Ladouceur made the call on the button, and everyone else folded. The dealer prompted the players with a flop of {Q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, and McDonald fired 6,000. Ladouceur called.

After the {7-Diamonds} landed on the turn, McDonald slowed with a check. Ladouceur took this as an opportunity to fire a bet and wagered 14,100. McDonald called.

The river was the {J-Spades}, and both players checked, although Ladouceur did pause for a little bit before checking as if he was going to take a stab at it. That stab might've worked as McDonald tabled the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} for a pair of nines. Ladouceur couldn't beat it and mucked his hand.
