Kolossow vs. Kotov

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Ivan Kotov got his stack of 130,000 or so all in preflop holding the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and was flipping against the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} of Stefan Tobias Kolossow.

Kotov got it in good, but the {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop hit Kolossow. Kotov was clearly upset and let out a long sigh. The {3-Diamonds} turn left him in need of a jack on the river, but he would receive no reprieve as the useless {9-Clubs} peeled off.

Defending Champ on the Ropes

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After Pasi Sormunen opened for 16,000 from middle position, defending champ Mikalai Pobal three-bet to 40,000 from the button. The blinds folded and then Sormunen called before checking the {9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Pobal took the opportunity to bet 35,000 and Sormunen said, "I thought you only had one bet."

He was referring to Pobal's short stack, and Sormunen took it upon himself to move all in. Pobal instantly released his hand.

Schulz Packs His Bags

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Action folded around to Kent Lundmark in the small blind and he announced a bet of all in. Kevin Schulz called for his tournament life of about 115,000 from the big blind and the hands were tabled.

Lundmark: {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Schulz: {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}

Schulz was dominated and in need of help to stay alive in this tournament. Unfortunately for the American, the board came down {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{K-Spades} and he was eliminated from play late in the day. Lundmark scored the knockout and that brings his stack up to 380,000.

Big Slick for the Slovak

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Petra Hruskova
Petra Hruskova

In a blind on blind confrontation Petra Hruskova got the last of her 214,000 chips in the middle against Nicolau Pacheco Villa-Lobos. Hruskova from Slovakia, who had qualified through a live satellite had {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} which looked pretty good against Villa-Lobos’ {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and so it proved as the board ran out {q-Spades}{a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts} to give her the double up with 45 minutes of the day remaining.

Conte Culls Colome

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Over at the secondary feature table, Marc Colome got his stack of 193,000 all in preflop holding the {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and was up against the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} of Francesco Conte. It was a classic flip, and Colome looked good through both the {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and {5-Clubs} turn.

Just when it looked like a double was in store, the {Q-Spades} spiked on the river to give Conte a pair of queens. Conte clapped his hands together in celebration while a dejected Colome made his way to the payout desk.

Here's a look at the counts from the secondary feature table:

Komarov Eliminated

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Three players took a flop of {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades}, and a bunch of raising resulted in Anton Komarov being all in for 147,000, Michel Pecheux calling and Valentino Konakchiev folding (we arrived just before the turn was put out).

Pecheux: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Komarov: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Komarov had flopped top pair, but it was still behind the pocket rockets of Pecheux. The {K-Spades} turn gave Komarov an open-ended straight draw, but the {3-Diamonds} river would be of no consequence. With that, Komarov hit the rail.

Stephensen’s Rockets Kaput

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Felix Stephensen was all in with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} and at risk as he got a call from {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Stephensen groaned “Oh no.” as a queen appeared in the window. {q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and the young PokerStars player from Norway’s tournament was derailed.
