On the fifth hand of play, Daniel Negreanu raised to 13,500 from under the gun. Gerard Piqué called from the next seat, then Jonathan Duhamel called from the hijack seat. The flop came down , and action checked to Duhamel. He bet 27,000 and won the pot.
Igor Kurganov was all in with the for 187,000. He was up against and behind David Benefield holding the . The flop, turn, and river ran out , and Kurganov was eliminated.
With his elimination, all of the players are now in the money, including Gerard Piqué who gave a big fist pump upon cashing and was first congratulated by golfer Sergio Garcia. Benefield along with Ole Schemion are also in the money, having already made the final table and cashing in the €50,000 Super High Roller together, then both running deep into the money in the Main Event here in Barcelona.
The board read and there was already at least 100,000 in the middle when we found Daniel Negreanu and Philipp Gruissem staring one another down. Negreanu checked fourth street and Gruissem moved out 80,000. Negreanu announced an all in bet over the top and then lowered his head and enjoyed his massage.
Gruissem tanked for right around two minutes before finally releasing his hand. Negreanu picked up the pot and now has about 545,000.
